Stableford Open Week 2

is now open for scoring!

I'm sure the VCT Year End Stapleford Tournament field is looking for the week 1 cut line.   The group in yellow have made the cut and move on to the week 2 competition:

 

The cut line was the top 20 scores and ties.  

We had a few golfers that indicated that personal situations prevented them from playing and entering a score.  For those who chose family over golf, good for you!  We had four that didn't submit a score or had an incomplete submission (e.g. no scorecard).  We had one golfer, Pinetree, who lives in the part of Florida impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton.  Given his courses were closed to recovery efforts, the tournament committee decided to give him a week 1 exemption and allow him to move on to week 2.   Since I'll be traveling (without my clubs and unable to post a score), Pinetree will take my spot in week 2.

Congratulations to all of those who made it through week 1.  Good luck in week 2. 

There are some great golfers missed the cut (just like in the PGA Tour) and you know they will be gearing up and will be ready to seek their revenge in the SIM league and VCT 2025!

As a reminder, I'll be back next Monday late afternoon and will tackle the week 2 scoring.  So, it may be later on Monday before the week 2 cut line for the top 10 to move forward to the championship round!

I made the cut! 

This VCT season and the tournament events have been the added motivation I needed to stick with my weekly golfing goal.  It even motivated me to play more than once a week to get in 18 holes.

Not that it gets me past the cut, but I calculated my score as a 29.  Also, you may want to check in with @Alan Stewart, I believe he dropped out in his post on Oct. 8 due to posting a score for the wrong format.  He may not be expecting to play this week. Still keeps the field at 20 if he doesn't.

@Mr. Mushball you are correct on your score.  I apologize.  For some reason the part of the spreadsheet where I calculated you score did not account handicaps greater than 18 correctly.  I guess mistakes happen when you rush.  
I checked the other players in your situation and their scores dealt with it correctly. 
With the correction, you were just under the cut line.  
I’m traveling for a week and don’t have access to my computer.  I did transfer the spreadsheet to my phone, but it’s not ideal  given screen size and fat fingers!

Not a very good game of golf today. My putting was horrible again. I was burning edges all day. Speed is good, but just not reading the break right. I will probably get knocked out this week. I hope to play one more time to improve my score. If it is my last round, it’s been fun participating in the season. My handicap index has went up 2 in the past month.

Finally put together a good round from start to finish. A couple blips, but just solid golf overall. 

Driver was good, did have one go into the hazard on 6, but hit a 6 iron that apparently lipped out from 170 yards. Tap on par.The two bogeys on par 5s I was 50 meters out and got cute then came up short of the green
... So so bad.Birdie on 17 was funny. Crushed drive then chunked my approach just infront of the greenside bunker. Had one foot in the bunker and had to pitch over the bunker and lip and ended up sinking it lol

Was finally a round that felt like most everything was clicking.

I wish I was joking when I said I had 3 putts do 180s around the hole and not drop for birdie.Two things I focused on was making sure all putts got to the hole or past. No more leaving putts short.

It helped a bunch and I only left 1 or 2 long putts short and they are uphill so I didn't hate that.The second was get chips past the hole. I'm so tired of leaving chips short. This was 50/50 and did okay on most, but still was very tentative on a few.

Was also nice that I played this as a true Handicap round on our system with a good friend and playing partner. Meant my Swiss Handicap went down from 9.5 to 8.0 which is cool, but also kinda crappy for the tournament I will be playing next week. Oh well!

I saw that the weather there will warm up a bit, so hopefully you can get another round in down there.

I play that course everytime we travel to the Branson area, and absolutely love the scenic views and challenge it presents.

Managed to get 9 holes in and a bit of a mixed round for me today. Had 2 double bogeys which did for me. One of which was a mishit over the lake and ended up in the water. I’m hoping to get a full round in before the end of the week so hopefully will improve.

Played late this morning, and although it was high 40's when we started, it warmed up to lower 60's throughout the round. Plenty of sun made it feel warmer than it actually was.

Picture perfect weather with the sun, only a light wind, and the colors have really taken off here due to recent wet and cold weather.

A lot of leaves on the ground, made finding balls challenging at times, and I switched to a yellow ball towards the end due to that fact.

Had 2 natural birdies which really were the highlight of my day, as iron shots are really getting dialed in, just sad that the end of the season here is no more than a month out.

Hit 10 of 14 fairways, 11 of 18 GIR, and 32 putts total. Most holes with missed greens were long, as I tried to make sure I had enough club to get there initially.

Turned out to be a relatively nice day.  Played Crosswinds on the edge of the Niagara escarpment.  The good play of the last month continues.  Fortunately, Lab rat (putter) bailed me out numerous times with me needing to make par putts of 8', 10' and 15'.  The twelve foot putt for eagle, lipped out.  Very pleased with the round.

Difficult week and this score probably won’t make the cut. Shot 74 from the blue tees with rating of 69.1 and 123 slope. Hit 10 fairways, 13 greens, but had 34 putts with one bad 3 putt! The reason for two cards is because the original is very busy with our Monday game scribble. Also the clean card has the wrong slope and rating.
