SmoothDraw Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Hi all- looking for some input on stepping up from Ping G425 irons to something more to grow into and am considering something in the class of the Wilson Dynapower Forged, players distance irons. Im in my mid 30s and play at about a 13 HC with have a faster swing speed (ie play X-stiff 70g in driver for reference). Wondering if the Dynapower Forged provides benefit and room to grow or are they too closely related to my current G425 set. Appreciate any opinions or experiences of those that have stepped out of Game Improvement irons. William P 1 Quote
KurtActual Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I think the question you have to answer is where are you losing shots? Are you unable to shape your approach shots into the green because your G425s go too straight? What do you hope to gain by changing irons? SmoothDraw and William P 2 Quote golf is fun
SmoothDraw Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 I currently have to really fight a left miss on my shorter irons. Some of which probably is due to some swing issues, but I believe the significant offset and 1 degree upright lie angle I was fit to when I began playing are not helping the situation. Honestly, I would start here.... go get re-fit for clubs if your swing has changed. So many great clubs out on the market right now too! What I hear is your pulling everything, which could indicate too upright. If it were me, and I had a little extra money, I would go get fit and not worry about brand. If I didn't want to pay for upgraded shafts, tell the fitter and go from there. You may find that your new specs are way different and then you can go to whatever club manufacturer you want and get the right set up.
