As Odyssey gets ready to release the new Sq to SQ putter will you see LAB reduce there prices on there putters. Golf equipment has gotten so expensive it will be nice to have the top putter company get in the game and possibly help the prices go down.

Driver Callaway: Ai Smoke triple diamond

Callaway 21 UW

Nope.  LAB will stay the same.  Especially since they're getting a lot of attention & notoriety lately with the Tour

Doubtful.   People will continue to be devoted to LAB and dismiss the other brands and state they are not the same.   If you want to delve into the correctional torque arena the newer releases will make it more affordable.  Many will then wonder what LAB does differently and buy one of their putters.  As long as they continue to sell, prices won’t go down.   Sam Hahn seems to be a marketing genius and rivals Cameron in that area.

There will always be LAB devotees, just like there are for other brands. But as other companies enter the “zero torque” I think the challenge will be how does LAB continue to hold or expand sales / market share. Pricing will be a part of it, but I don’t see the prices going down. If it’s a premium product, you’re willing to pay a premium price.

What I’m interested in seeing is if LAB goes after a company like Callaway for patent infringement. Or is this a nice way for LAB to get acquired and monetize the owners.

Additionally while the prices are a little higher, most people look at the high prices with the upgraded shafts.  If you go stock with steel shaft the prices aren’t that much higher than what is coming out.

I wonder if there were ever talks of a Titleist/JP Wedge type “L.A.B./Titleist Project.”  Or any other brand for that matter.

I can only assume, but I’m sure someone surely offered Sam for his technology.

Either way, I’m glad they are still a “small” shop.  That matters in this day and age.

Not sure on timing. Not something I'm working on, but just have a bit of insight into that will come out sometime probably within the next month?

As soon as it does it will be posted and shared.

Bill Presse is the guy behind the tech.  Pretty sure Sam bought in and did the marketing and has built the brand

Spot on Bill Preese is super active on the LAB putter Facebook group (so is Sam) I love my LAB putter but I also love how even as they have grown as a brand they are still doing such a great job as a company of staying in touch with there "Fans" I think this next round for them with the introduction of face inserts and less shaft lean to allow people to use none press grips could be huge if they keep this kind of connection and product quality up they are really going to start to take serious market share

Based on this article they already are seeing a good market share

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/only-one-company-can-legally-describe-a-putter-as-a-broomstick-heres-why

From the article:

L.A.B. putters have gained momentum on tour and in the marketplace in 2024. Although L.A.B. did not register in golf retail tracking firm Golf Datatech’s January 2024 numbers, it sports a 7.2-percent share in October. For perspective, that is more than Bettinardi, Cobra, Evnroll, Mizuno and SeeMore combined. In terms of dollar share, the numbers are even stronger at 11.6 percent, topped only by Odyssey, Titleist and TaylorMade and besting putter stalwart Ping.

Interesting article.  Scares me a little though as LAB might be getting too big for someone like Callaway to not try to buy out.

That comes down to the people wanting to sell and enough money being offered since I don’t think LAB is publicly traded.

I firmly believe, based on some conversations I've had with people in the know, that that ship has LONG sailed.  LAB weathered the storm of financial insecurity a few years ago, and based on the above-referenced financials, I don't think they're going anywhere jointly.  As Jamie mentioned, we have something coming up that will dive deeper into this.  It's a Society thing, if you catch my drift.

I like to hear that I can say from my limited experience as a frequent visitor to their Facebook community their company culture seems top-notch, hell when the CEO of the company reaches out to people to connect with them when there are issues and personally takes the time to give people tips to help with their putters you know you have someone who is really passionate for their product and actually likes to interact with the people that buy and use their putters, I think this is the real secret sauce for LAB others can try to copy the tech but not even close to hitting on the customer service aspects.
