People, I sincerely apologize for this post. I've been searching, reading every review I can find but I can't seem to find the exact information I'm looking for so maybe some of you can help me figure out what grips I should buy.

I've been playing 17 years now. I never wear a glove. A grip I've been using is the golf pride cp2 wrap. I tried the cp2 pro but it didn't last me half a season. I play roughly 80+ rounds a year. Although I like the cp2 wrap I'd like to find something less expensive. I was considering superstroke cross comfort or traxion tour but the reviews of them make me nervous. I don't have a store or fitter where I could go to to check grips so hence this post. I was thinking of going with some Amazon knock off grips but again haven't really found something that really stands out. I understand this is a difficult question to answer since we all have different preferences but I guess a little friendly advice from a knowledgeable group might help me. Basically looking for a comfortable golf grip for someone who doesn't wear a glove that will last 80 round seasons and won't cost a fortune. What do you guys use and or recommend?

Take a look at Star Grips. Super comfortable (for me) and inexpensive, but wear well. Colors and sizes galore…and easy to put on with compressed air, so you. Can swap them around as you see fit…if you see fit…

I had a look last night (ironically enough). I was impressed so I added 4 grips to get free shipping and it came out to $104 for 4 grips. I'm in Canada so I guess the free shipping doesn't apply for us and the shipping charge was $54 bucks. I'll mess around again. Maybe I did something wrong?

... I play about 250+ rounds a year and I also don't use a glove either. I have been playing Lamkin ST+ Hybrids since they came out. While they are not "tacky" per se they provide a very secure grip that never slips. Slightly larger under the bottom hand so no need for masking tape. And even though they are $10 each, I have not replaced any of my ST+ Hybrid grips in two years so they last forever. As you said grips are a personal choice but as a gloveless player I have never played a better grip.

The cost is going to be higher, but talking about wear, durability and tackiness I would take a look at Best grips.  With the holiday season upon us maybe it could be rolled in to a Christmas wish list.

In all fairness I'm friends with the Owner so probably biased, but just on pure tackiness and playing without a glove I don't think anything beats their grip.  (pun intended 🙂 )  You could always start with just one on the driver or a wedge and see if you like them before investing in a whole set.

Agreed. I have ~80 rounds on the ST+ Hybrid that is currently on my driver (/w glove) and after giving it a good scrub the other day I was surprised at how good the lower half still felt (MCCs get hard and slick on the lower hand in half the time for me).

I was reading up on the star grips. The tour star 360+ sounds good but no midsize option? That's weird. Anyone know why?

Can’t say for sure. I’ve got the Sidewinders on mine, all midsized. You could always get a mid sized Sidewindr and a jumbo in the Tour 360 and see how far off they are. FWIW, I’ve been super stoked with the Sidewinders.

I'm more interested in the star tour 360 + because they say it has less taper. I don't want to have to add tape to do it. I don't like my ball going left 😉

The tour 360+ comes in standard and in jumbo. Less taper.

They are having a massive black Friday sale and also offer a test sample pack (of your choosing)

I'd probably reach out to them via email and see what they can do.

From their website " The Tour Star+ is a reduced-taper version of our Classic Wrap. Made from the same soft tacky rubber compound, this grip has a larger lower section - equal to 3-4 extra wraps of tape "

I e out dozens of rounds and range sessions on them and have no signs of wear. They clean super easy too.

How far are you from SM Golf in NB? They are listed as a retai seller for stargrips

So does Lamkin still exist? I saw that Superstroke had bought them. Are they still going to keep Lamkin or rebrand them?

Check on the Golfworks website, you can get some bargains there https://www.golfworks.com/  check under deals also.

I picked up some superstroke from them, they are a little stiffer going on but the feel is really good and they also have the rib going down the bottom of the grip to help with setting your hands consistently in the same position

I've been there. They do have great deals. Problem is I'm in Canada and by the time I get that shipped to me with exchange and taxes it's no longer a good deal. :(

I was intrigued by the Lamkin ST + 2 Hybrid grips mentioned below, so I went to Lamkin's site.  The video says the grips ar "perfect for anyone with a medium to high swing speed".  I'm 68 and those days are long gone.  While I really don't see what swing speed has to do with grip choice, what's a good grip for those of us that are a little slower?

First time I hear about a grip being suitable to a certain swing speed. Do you have any hand issues? Do you wear a glove? Do you lie soft or firm grips?

I use a glove, but, for durability, Lamkin Crossline! I don't play 80 rounds a year, more like 20, so I get quite a few seasons out of my grips. I know it is not the softest grip, but it is comfortable on my arthritic hands, and gives me good feedback from the club.  I use the midsize on my driver, fairway, and hybrid, and use oversize on my irons, and wedges. I just clean them after so many rounds, maybe twice a year, and they stay fairly tacky. They have an all black grip, if you don't care for the standard Crossline. I started with GP wraps, and then the GP Tour Velvet, and decided to try these, as they were a little less in price, and have used them on my clubs since like '08-'09.. I get a lot of people I am paired with ask me how I like them. I just hand them a club. And I tell them how well they hold up for me, and how reasonable the price is at PGASS.. Tacki-Mac online has the same grip, much less expensive, and you can buy a set of 13, and they ARE just as good as the Lamkin. TM's hold up just as well as the Lamkin Crossline, at a savings! I hope you find what you are looking for...

I have no hand issues, so I'm perplexed why an online promotional video for Lamkin was introduce swing speed into their presentation of the Lamkin ST + 2 Hybrid grip.  All I get from that is a "sales limiter", as it only introduces doubt into the consumer's mind.  I've never seen this type statement from any other manufacturer.

Look at the Royal Grips on the Canadian Golfworks site.  Cheap and they held up great.  Looks like they have midsize and some wrap style options.

Let me add my support for the Star grips. I have been using them for 20 years in my own clubs, and have been very happy with them. I have never had to replace one because of wear; they keep their tack and resilience. The only thing that can get them, and only temporarily, is dirt. I wash mine in water and strong detergent (Mr Clean is good) twice a year or so, and they stay tacky.

They are made of a completely different material; that is why they last so well. The grips on my hybrids are probably 15 years old, and they play like new. (You might ask why I am playing 15 year old hybrids; I can't find a set that works as well for me, so they stay in the bag.)

I like the feel of the Star Classic Wrap Midsize, and standardized on it for myself 15-20 years ago.
