Paul S
Oh my... I was just bumming around rockbottomgolf.com tonight as I sometimes do when I'm bored and my jaw almost dropped when I saw that they had the BRAND NEW! Wilson Staff FG Tour TC wedges listed! Get this, they retail at $199, and were going for $99! So right that second I added what turns out was the last 56* tour grind to my cart and snagged it! I cannot even believe it. That is pretty much the last club I wanted to add to complete my bag... Full update is on the way as soon as I reshaft the hybrid and driver (shafts en route). EXCITED! Paul S
Welp... Here's the bag for the year. I don't anticipate buying anymore clubs for awhile. Paul S
Those Wilson Staff wedges are very nice looking Thanks, I agree. hckymeyer
Loving the setup and very glad those shafts look like they will work for you!! I just got my new irons shafted in the last two weeks, I'm going to hit up the simulators at Bunker Hills and test them out soon...hopefully I really need to update my WITB, but I need to spend some time doing a gap analysis to figure out if my current hybrid fits between the new 4i and new 3w. Paul S
Let us know what part of the cities you end up and I'm sure you will get quite a few great recommendations on clubs near by. I think I've decided to move into my girlfriend's place when she moves out... So that would be right by 94 and 35w. North edge of Uptown, though I can promise that I'm NOT a hippie. I think I'm actually going to start the season with the Wilsons in the bag. I'm really excited about the shafts. Unfortunately the place that I had put the set together kinda got a little sloppy and a couple of the irons have a little glue rattle in the shaft. I think I'm going to have the grips redone anyway, so I'll just have to remind them to get the glue outta there at the same time. I hear ya on the gaps too. I went ahead and got a third W/S wedge (the 50* standard sole) and I'm hoping that the gaps are ok. I also have a new 3w and hybrid as well though. Hopefully when I do my golftec analysis on the 10th we can hammer out the right settings on my 3w and driver to make the gap work out. It should be good. Now I'm done getting new clubs though! Unfortunately where I'll be living isn't really close to anything except for a couple of the MPLS public parks courses, though the 94 entrance is only a block away. Any good ideas would be great! Otherwise I'll probably try to play a few twincitesgolf.com events to get a feel for some of what's out there. Thankfully I'll have an abundance of time come June. RoverRick
Love your set up Paul. How do you like the SuperTri? I picked up a SuperDeep, well, I bought a SuperDeep, it is not here yet, but I am looking so forward to it. I have been playing 45" shafts but put a 47" in an older Titleist 909D3 head. Wow I loved this but I bet it does not roll 10 feet, too much spin. So I bought the SuperDeep. It looks much like the SuperTri but performs different. I also love the fact that I can interchange the shafts with my R11 stuff in the other bag. Great set up. Paul S
I love the supertri. I hated the shaft it had though, so when that Diamana popped up in the classified section I jumped on it, especially because it already had the taylormade tip. Before that I was hitting a 909d2 pretty much solely because it had a Diamana. I'm really excited to dial it in. Thanks though, I'm looking forward to your updated pictures! Paul S
Ok, I know it's too soon to really say this, BUT my 2014 bag is set... With the exception of the bag itself. I still want one of the new W/S Nexus bags. Here goes. Starting things off with the new putter. I think that I have finally found the perfect putter. It's got more toe hang that my other Yes! putter, and it looks more classic. The feel is also even more solid. This putter will probably need to be pried from my cold dead fingers. Now to the wedges. I recently had them fitted and bent and the difference was night and day for quality of contact. Now, the irons. No, you cannot have them. Go buy your own. And now the hybrid and woods. I resisted gaming the hybrid for no reason until I actually compared it to the TEE CB4 last time I was at 2ndswing. Turns out the W/S is a no-brainer. Who knew? And finally, the whole bag. Now I just need to suffer through the next 10 months of winter here. Bonus Pictures! Australian Blades!!! whiskey golf
That's a cool putter, I'm probably going back to my Wilson 8882 putter because I like the look a lot and I miss the feeling of a metal putter. Also for the woods, you should try out the new Wilson line-up. Once I learned that my strong arc was ideal for this type of putter I knew to keep a lookout for the right one. I can't even describe my excitement over finding the putter I found. I actually stalked it more than a couple of times at 2ndswing, hoping that it didn't get snagged before I got the chance to take it. It would take a really exceptional club to knock out my woods. I've never had better numbers vs what I have now, and I've tried very sincerely to. My embarrassing brand loyalty will probably get me to try them when I get a chance though. whiskey golf
That's the only problem with that style of putter, I probably don't have the right stroke to really benefit from it. I think I have a slight arc and my Wilson has 6 o'clock toe hang, not an ideal match.

Paul S
Well, even though I love the Pro Gear CG 100 putter, I sometimes wish that I had a blade putter for a bit more stability. I tried a Metal X Mid that was cut to 35" and counterbalanced, but it was face-balanced and probably a hair too heavy to really work for me. So… I traded up. I kept the CG 100, but I noticed the most awesome putter ever at 2ndSwing and it might just be the perfect blend of quality, roll, weight, balance, and looks. Without further ado - the mint condition Yes! Abbie Tour Forged. It's similar to a Callie, except for the slant neck. It's forged, and CNC Milled, and the head feels like it's around the 355gram range. It has unmatched feel and roll, and I haven't been this excited about a new club in a long time. It also wears the BestGrips puttershoe nicely, and a BestGrips putter grip is on it's way now from Zach. Can't wait!!!
