Wow wow wow

sleepy europeans are going to struggle to sleep now, to win the match as well. Crikey.

no smugness though, Brookline hurt us for a long time and probably set a few careers on the downward slide.

Incredibly impressed by dufner, like a robot; but flippin heck carrying Tiger didn't help the US team.

Poulter is our leader and no mistake!

for Gleneagles may I suggest more vice captains smoking large cigars?

dare I say, let the postmortem... sorry, analysis, begin?!?!

All in all, if you try and look at it objectively (might be too soon), but this has been one heck of a Contest. Swings of fortune, some great individual performances, some lackluster, but intense competition and most of the matches going down to the last couple of holes.

For my mind, you can't ask for much more than that in a contest. A whole bunch of those matches could have gone the other way very easily - didn't, but could've...

Definitely too soon to analyze in any sort of objective manner for us US fans :)

Was a ton of fun to watch. I was genuinely invested in the outcome and actually skipped watching that Pats in favor of the Ryder Cup, which in hindsight I regret. Nothing else in golf comes close to this level of emotion.

Amazing come back by the Europeans.

Almost as good as Adam Goodes playing 3/4 of football with a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament in his knee to help Sydney to another grand final win.

Luke Donald v Bubba Watson no surprise but thought Bubba would show better.

Ian Poulter v Webb Simpson no surprise other than it lasted as long as it did.

Rory Mcilroy v Keagan Bradley no surprise

Justin Rose v Phil Mickelson not shocked but thought Phil would win.

Paul Lawrie v Brandt Snedeker Huge surprise and shocked by how lopsided it was.

Nickolas Colsarts v Dustin Johnson Not shocked but thought that Colsarts would win.

Graeme McDowell v Zack Johnson Huge surprise. I thought Graeme had this one.

Sergieo Garcia v Jim Furyk no surprise

Peter Hanson v Jason Dufner no surprise

Lee Westwood v Matt Kuchar Shocked

Martin Kaymer v Steve Stricker Shocked I can not believe his play this week.

Francesco Molinari v Tiger Woods Does not matter. I think Tiger wins that one on the 18th if Stricker makes the putt.

So my vote for the MVP for team Europe is.............. The highway patrol man who escorted Rory to the course and ultimately retained the cup for the Euros.

I wouldn't mind some shiny new KBS shafts and a good looking USA putter grip to make up for all the misery.

If I actually get the grips I'll send the Europe one to a MGSer in Europe if they will pay shipping.

2012 had been the year that the front runner could not hold on to the lead and win the tournament. We have seen it week in and week out. Hell, half the guys on both teams have done this year. Why should the whole team not blow the lead? Well, the whole team did not. Three and a half of them played well enough enough to win. If the Euros would have had the lead going into the last day, they probably would have lost it also.

+1 to that!

I was rooting hard for USA, but dang... with that shitty play... they seriously didn't deserve to win.

IMO, Luke is high up there on the list with Poulter. Yeah, slacking the last few holes, but definitely Luke's top performances in 2012.

I just hope Stricker doesn't take the blame for the loss, feel sorry for him.

Pretty much if you failed to break par and you lost you get the blame. If you had 7 birdies and your opponent had 10 and an eagle you did all you can do. Keegan in my opinion was not supposed to win his match but when Rory missed the fairway and then came up 30 yards short of the green and is still tying his shoe because he is so late and flustered and you can not even go one up. From 102 yards venter of the fairway and blow the pitch by 40 feet. Come on.

Rory said to himself, "Ah, well, ahhhh, it looks like ,ahhhh, I am not the only one in the wrong time zone, ahhh. ".

Europe did not play that great other than Donald and Lawrie but for the most part the US just sucked.

When I remember the individual performances in this Ryder Cup, I remember (1) Colsaerts making an insane number of putts and making 8 birdies and an eagle, (2) Poulter birdieing the last 5 holes in a row to win when the Euros needed it most, and (3) the three putts Justin Rose made on the last three holes to beat Phil Mickelson in the singles. Dustin Johnson, Zack Johnson, and Jason Dufner all played well, but I don't remember any specifics of outstanding play by them. I do remember that two of the top Captain's picks (Stricker and Furyk) would have helped the team more if they had just sat on the bench for the duration. And Snedeker's Fedex mojo was apparently shipped to the wrong destination.

Furyk especially has a heavy load to carry. He has failed to come through in the clutch at least three times this year in critical situations. Crushing failures. I feel really bad for him.

Justin Rose won this for Europe; the way he closed out those last three holes was unbelievable. Also, I think if Duff doesn't blow a 5 up lead and closes early to put that point up on the board, it boosts the US and take the wind out of the Euros sails. Coming down the stretch the US, just flat out choked and the Euros were lights out.

I will remember the US teams great individual performance on Sunday. All three of them. Dustin, Zack and Jason.

I said earlier that the Euros did not play that great, well it was 4:30am, and I was wrong. They did not start that great but all of them finished great. The US started slow and tapered off.

Well, I've had 24 hours to mull this over....Stricker is the one I blame the most. 0-4-0 is just wrong. It'snot like he played great and lost. He just lost. 4 times.

Bit tough on sticker, woods was like a millstone round his neck on the first two days - his confidence looked shot and playing with a guy who's missing the course will do that.

He was poor on Sunday, but plenty of the us team capitulated on the Sunday.

By the way, where was the rough? Was there decision to cut it down - its great to see lots of birdies but it didn't look like hitting wide was much of a punishment.

DL3 told them to cut the rough. He said the fans wanted to see them hit drivers and make birdies not struggle for pars.

Looking back on it now, Stricker seemed like his confidence was gone in the Thursday press conference. I always liked him but after that press conference I came away thinking he was a weak link on the team. Who did not think he belonged there.

As far as Tiger spraying golf balls all over the state, I am shocked. :)

Who would have expected him to not hit one shot 50 yards off the mark and the next shot to 5 feet? Shock and awe was originally coined to describe Tiger's game. Socked by how bad and in awe of how good.

I had this on the TV today while working and now that I know who won and just looking at the golf part of it. There was some great golf played this weekend.
