Favorite Driver

What was the favourite driver that you ever owned. Could be in your bag now, or it could have been years ago.

Mine was a Cleveland Comp with a Graman UL540 shaft. That thing was a fairway finding cannon.. It was long, straight, well straight by my standards anyway. I had it in the bag for about 18 months until I cracked the face on it one day. I pulled the shaft and put it in other Comp heads but they were just never the same.

The 9015D I have now is a close 2nd, Bridestone J33R just behind that and eveything miles and miles behind. Well the Geek probably deserved to be in the top3 as well but I ran out of room.

I have a revolving WITB policy.

Mine has to be the one i have know, because I haven't owned to many. I like the shape of my Superquad, and the sound and feel are also very good, as is the weight. I don't like the shaft though, it is way too spinny for me.

Ping TISI ... hands down. In its day, the longest and most forgiving driver out there. It was used extensively on the long drive tour at one point.

Current one too Nike 5000 with the VS Proto ByYou. First driver that I have consistently hit fairways with and it is quite long for me.

And it is yellow.

It's still my Adams Original Speedline, now I haven't hit the Fast 10 yet, so it could be changing.

My cleveland HiBore. Besides the fact that my ears start ringing if I hit it wrong.

That's what I call feedback!

Original version or one of the later ones? I had a hibore xl that when it was good it was great but when it was bad....

IMO the XLS was much improved, then the Monster killed it.

Launcher was a better line too, probably why it is carrying

although...

HIBORE!!!!

is way more fun to yell like a barbarian after a huge drive

Just stamping MONSTER across a kinda classy club ruined it.

Not sure how you could call the ol' "duck bill" a classy club, but to each their own. From what I've read the XL with the Fit-On Red shaft was a great club for a lot of people, and was preferred to any other iteration of the Hibore.

For my swing the best driver has been my current 909 DComp. I'm a low-launch, low-spin player and this one has really helped me improve my driving.

KINDA classy. No big graphics, just a tweaked head shape

Agreed, I wouldn't label any of the HiBores "classy," but the original and the XL were good sticks. I never hit the Monster.

The look at address never bothered me one iota. That thing was crazy low spin for me - I hit some true knuckleballs with it at the range every now and again. They'd start out normal, then just dance up, down, left, right. Fun to watch, but probably not great on the course.

Yeah, beat up old range balls with their dimples worn off tend to do that! (apologies if you attend a nice range with decent balls to hit at, cuz I sure don't)

No apologies necessary, those knucklers were definitely hit with balls that barely had dimples. It's actually a really good point, I had not considered the impact of the ball on those crazy shots before.

The old XL, my mate still bags the Tour version fitted with a Mitsi Bassara. Hit's it a mile.

I had an old original HiBore that I thought was pretty good, no one else who swung it ever liked though.

My brother was so close to buying my XL from me when I sold it. It was hole by hole. Crushes the ball, shanks the ball, crushes, and so on.

He still talks about it too.

got a brand new dst tour 9.5 with a whiteboard today, been using the demo, but this driver keeps my usual shot way down from the moon ball to a high line drive o the roll is what i was looking for and got plus about 15-20 more yards when hit well

the smaller head helps alot to i think at 430 not alot smaller but sure i different when you are use to the 460 heads, i think it being smaller made me slow down with my drives and hitting it alot more sweet spots with this one, shorter shaft helps to with the tour version/
