While I officially gave up tobacco at the first of the year, I fell off the wagon in May, and started up again. I do chewing tobacco, however, I am headed over for a quick trip to Europe next weekend for 10 days and the use of chewing tobacco is not socially acceptable. Not that it really is here. So i broke out the pipe again and am weening myself away from the chew. I was actually interested in cigars and have smoked a few on the course. I read the Cigars 101 and I have a couple of samplers on the way. They will be here before the trip. Most of what I got were the Naturals and Maduros, so I will see how it goes.

 

I know they have a lot of cigars and dirt cheap over there so I will have to check them out.

I don't have anything for this weekend..........yet. I may have to make a stop somewhere on the way to my mother-in-laws tonight. I've got some celebrating to do myself, so I might have to get a smoke and bottle of champagne for tomorrow night.

I do not have them to take pics. Also they may not be good but I thought 20 for less than $20 if I have 4 that I like I have made money. If I do not like any of them, I have not lost any thing either.

The first time, I went to Bulgaria, they use the Cyrillic Alphabet, I watched the Spanish TV Channel and could read the Cigars. I did not know what the Robusto-Maduro-Presidente-Toro words meant but just being able to read and pronounce them was refreshing. Now I can at least speak the language some and understand the alphabet. It is tougher to lean a new alphabet than a new language.

I smoked a Arturo Fuente and an un-banded cigar that some guy gave me at the VFW out of the back of his car... says he bought them in Texas - he also said it was a full bodies smoke that wasn't very full bodied.... umm... yeah, it was the exact opposite of full bodied and had no flavor. But, I got to smoke two cigars this weekend, so I was sitting happy. Put that together with a bottle of scotch I got for my birthday and it made for a great night all together.

My cigars were out for delivery this morning on UPS. I have had my lighter and cutter in my pocket all day and checked many times. Then I discovered that they will delivered tomorrow by the post office What is up with that? Is this normal? Is this some make sure the minors are not getting cigars on the internet?

My cigars arrived today. There were two that did not have a band and since I do not know one from the other anyway I made no attempt identify it. But I took one of the bandless ones on the course. Not only did I truly enjoy it. I found I was much more relaxed playing. I can not wait to have another tomorrow. You guys have now destroyed my only virtue.

I'm going to make sure I have cigars for all the tourneys I play in next year. I'm always relaxed when smoking a cigar and until now never thought about smoking one during a tournament; it makes sense, it just takes the edge off.

I smoke two cigars rarely while golfing and when I'm relaxing at our back porch. My favorite would be Cohiba Siglo VI, the one made from Cuba with a pretty metal tube and tastes of sweet honey, spices and cedar. The problem is that it is quite expensive. The other one is Rocky Patel Edge.

Passing the time away on All Hallows Eve

I am cigared out. I had 8 Pale Ales and 4 Budweisers and 5 Cigars today. It was beer camp, an annual event that is now basically eating wild game, venison chili, wild boar, dove, and duck. Drinking beer, and smoking cigars.

 

I had a Hamilton's House Robusto Natural during the golf round this morning.

Then a Tesoro Plumpo Maduro this afternoon waiting to go to beer camp with the first of the pale ales.

A Dominique Robusto Natural after I arrived at beer camp with the middle part of the pale ales.

Then dinner with the end of the pale ales, The food was awesome.

A Juan Y Ramon Rothschild Maduro for desert.

and finally a Caridad Sumatra Robusto Natural and the last of the beer on the way home.

 

I enjoyed all of them but I feel about as smoked as the wild boar the killed this morning for our supper.

 

As an aside, if you are going to drink and drive, actually we did have a designated driver, but I was riding with the local DA so we were not too worried about the open container.

 

By the way, I am not 100% on the order of the cigars.

This is how I kicked off the weekend; a Crowned Head Four Kicks, with a glass of Woodford Reserve. I also picked up a couple Perdomo Robustos for a round of golf on Sunday.

I have been wondering where you have been, how did you make out in the storm?

I picked up a Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra Churchill for tomorrows round and another Churchill for this mornings but smoked that one and left the band in my cart so I do not remember what it was.

 

I am giving serious thought to picking up a box of Final Blend Churchill Maduros on Monday or Padilla La Terraza Churchill Cigars - Maduro any suggestions.

Today after work I have a line up of a elysian triple bette blanche with a nice Jose la pierdo Nacionales. I will be completing my review of the C. Carnahan wedges too so be on the lookout in the member review forum.

 

I have a nice superintendants revenge tournament tommorow and I plan on swaping cigars with a buddy not sure what he has for me but he's been talking it up for a couple weeks. I am bring a trinidad reyes for the victors circle as well!!!!!!

we opted for the trinidad and it was the coloniales no tht ereyes. a nice smoot creamy cigar. we didn't have any brew since my bro was backed up at work. For me, holidays are about family though and we had a good time regardless!

I had a Rocky Patel Vintage 1992, Dave had a Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut, and Tim had a Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve. They were all great smokes.
