TheWahoo
The first thing I do is to tighten my golf glove, it is my focus trigger. I then mentally hear the words of my instructor-grip and posture, grip and posture. Being left handed, I hold the club straight up and down in front of me with my left hand making sure the club head is in the correct position. I then grip it with my right hand making sure to use the proper finger grip. Then I place my right hand on the club assuring that my hands are parallel and will work as a unit. After placing the club behind the ball, its about posture. The knee bent and that I bend from the hips with a rather straight back. The last thing I do is just to make sure I have stuck my butt out. Then the only thing I think about is finishing my backswing and pray.
cnosil
Tee and iron shots I Stand behind the ball and determine shot to hit and spot in grass to base the aim for my clubface. Establish grip with left hand with club setup for shot shape Move into position and setup to spot in grass based on desired shot shape Look at where I want the ball to land. Swing club. No practice swings. Putting is similar except I hold the club in my right hand since I putt left hand low. I focus on how far I need to roll the ball. Again, No practice swings Chipping is basically the same except if I have an odd lie I will take a few practice swings to see when the club bottoms out Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: TM-180 Testing: Backups: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
dadivots
Pretty much the same routine for every shot for me. - Stand behind the ball and pick my line - Visualize the shot I want to play - Pick a spot 6" in front of my ball on my line (while doing this I take my grip and continue visualizing my shot) - walk up to the ball and waggle once on the way there - set my club down behind the ball with the line that I want - readjust grip based on lie (uphill/downhill) or if I need to choke down - step in to the shot - one last look at target then down at the ball and swing Sounds more intricate than it really is. It only takes me about 15 seconds or so. It really boils down to lining up the behind the ball and picturing the shot. Then step up, line up and swing. Bingo. Same every time and quick to do, with a difference being that Dead Aim/Target is the only thought once step up, line up is done.... One last look, lock it in, and go. Rusty1885
The most important in my preshot routine of every shots is the 2 seconds before I start my swing. It's the look at the target-look at the ball-GO! It's about the right amount of time for me to be quick enough that I can't think about anything else and not too quick I have to rush. My preshot is about 20-22 seconds, it took a while to practice this routine. I just need to see the shot, lock it in and start my 2 second. When I'm in the zone I feel like as soon as I look away from the target and look at the ball the target is zooming in toward me and I just try to react to it. JDHolmes
Dont know that I'd really call it a pre-shot routine, but I -pick a target (tree or 150 stake) -align feet to target (I actually hold the club across my toes to make sure they're aligned with my target) -set left hand grip (very key for me) -grip with right hand -practice swing -key thought-left elbow, head still, shoulder (dont open too soon) -execute the key thoughts - Sent from my SM-G920V using MyGolfSpy mobile app
getitdaily
Routine has pretty much been the same for years but recently added step 2: 1. Behind the ball - I smooth practice swing 2. Examine the hole and find where my "wall" is. My wall is where i absolutely do not want to miss it. 3. Determine the shot to play so I stay away from the wall 4. Find a target in the distance 5.approach the ball, with feet together, align body to the target And align the face square to the target 6. Set feet 7. Waggle and check target 8. Slowly place club on the ground behind the ball and go

STUDque
Walk up and swing... drives my friends crazy. If I take too long to set up and start to think it all goes downhill fast I played against a dude in league that would do this. I felt bad because I kept finding myself talking in his back swing. I just don't get how guys can step right up with minimal prep and whack the ball like that. getitdaily
15.4.But I broke 80 twice last 2 rounds.Sorry, how me and my partners all play.We always wave people thru that are faster If you intend to get better then you'll start to find that the faster you play? The better. Most guys who have a long routine have a problem trying to control where the ball goes via routine. The better you get, the more you will understand that all of that routine just builds up pre-shot anxiety. That leads to tightness in the body, arms, hands, etc. Tightness leads to bad shots. The perspective of "giving up control to gain control " is what you'll find as you get better.

Kegger
My preshot routines stay pretty consistent... It's not something I think about, the routine just happens and very rarely changes... Everything but putter: 1. Determine the shot/club I want to hit 2. Take 1 or 2 practice swings next to ball 3. Step back, look down the line of my ball to find my target 4. Step back into the ball while focusing on my target (I seem to always raise my left arm as I'm stepping in to move my left sleeve up.. Honestly never noticed I was doing it, until I did... Now I can't unsee it, but also can't stop doing it! OCD much?) 5. Make sure my club is square to my target, then take my final stance 6. Swing away! Putter: 1. I'm looking for breaks as I walk up, but will also look from the low side of the green if the time is there.. I'm not one to look at a putt from every angle. I go more with my first instincts and try not to second guess myself. 2. Plumb bob from behind my ball to get an overall sense of the severity of slope/break (Yup.. I'm a plumb bobber!) And find my aim spot. 3. Make a continuous practice stroke (think pendulum) perpendicular to my line standing behind the ball. Always looking at the hole and/or my aim spot, not the putter (Helps me "feel" the speed). 4. Step in (and yes, the arm raise happens for the putter as well... OCD) 5. Make sure my putter face aligns to my aim point and take final stance (no ball lines for me. Prefer a blank spot facing up on my ball for putting) 6. Send it! EthanSterlingPrice
Mine simplified: Check the lie and decide what shot would best fit the circumstances. Go through club selection Stand behind the ball and TRY to visualize a ball flight Step into my shot and get in a proper setup position Take a final look towards the target Repeat any swing thoughts I may be using that day in my head And swing.
