Driver flex and length

If you had a half inch to a driver change the flex of the shaft?

What I read was:

 

Trim on the tip will change the flex.

Trim on the butt will change the swing weight. The flex might change slightly depending on the kick point of the shaft?

In a nutshell, yes.

You can't change the flex by butt cutting a shaft. Kick point might effect it but only by 1 to 3cpm most people can't feel the difference at all. Only way to effectively change flex is tip trim the shaft.
