TWShoot67
Thanks guys. The family has had it rough the last week and half but not nearly as hard as my 17 year old son Wayland. I've posted in many of the golf forums that i have been a part of for the better part of 10 years or more. My family has been overwhelmed with the amount of support the golf community has given to us through emails and Topics posted and posts received of well wishes for my son. I'm was going to start a thread about what had happened but since you guys have already started this I will just continue from here. Anyone who knows me and is a friend of mine on facebook is probably aware by now of what has happened, but I also realize not everyone that visits these golf forums hangs on facebook as well as myself I've done it more for communicating with my children and golf related companies that have facebook pages. So anyway here's what I have written in other forums to get everyone up to speed. On late Friday evening November 23rd, the day after Thanksgiving my youngest son Wayland was shot while attending a party. I was woken up with a knock at the door at approximately 12:30- 1:00 am. Being notified by some of his friends that he was rushed to the hospital. Obviously any parents worst nightmare. Well after calling the rest of the family, we all met at the hospital. Wayland was in having life saving surgery. After 5-6 hours of surgery and waiting for the doctors to come tell us how our son was we got the news that he survived but he was still in very critical condition as he lost over half the amount of blood he had in his body ( we were told over 2 quarts) So with a sigh of relief came the word that Wayland was in critical condition in ICU and they would know better in the am how he was progressing. Wayland was shot once in the stomach and the bullet had went through front and back of stomach and front and back of small intestines. The bullet narrowly missed his pancreas, aorta artery, and grassed his left kidney. Once morning arrived he was taken in for a CAT scan to see the function of his kidney. The first good news we received was that his kidney would remain and that it was working properly. We were then told that Wayland would still remain in what was an induced coma state until they could close the incision. So from Saturday November 24th to Saturday December 1st Wayland had 3 surgeries between those dates while being in this induced coma. Finally on late Saturday Wayland was brought out slowly from this coma and is now looking like he will make a full recovery. We have been told Wayland will need at least 2 months of physical rehabilitation along with talking with a psychologists for the mental side of this tragedy. I'm asking anyone who can help, please donate anything you can to help us with our medical bills. My son will have a long road ahead of him with rehab. Every single dollar will help as I myself have been out of work since I was hurt back in 2008. I lost my insurance over 2 years ago from being injured and having knee replacement surgery in 2010. I had to sign up my two youngest sons up with government insurance which hardly will cover any of this expense. I've started a web page over at give forward.com and I'm having a beef n beer at my union hall to try and raise as much money as I can to help prepare for Waylands hospital bills and future rehabilitation. Anything anyone can contribute will surely help and my family is truly grateful. Here's the link: Wayland's link Even if you can't donate you can still take a look at the web page and see some pics of my son before this ordeal took place. Waylands a very laid back young man who wants to be an Registered Nurse. He's known he's want to do this since he was around 7-8 years old. Way has helped some of the older folks in our neighborhood with groceries and the like, he's just a good kid. Any parent would be proud to have a boy like my son Wayland. Events like this just put everything into perspective. I have been thanking God every single day for the friends he has who rushed him to the hospital and saved his life, along with the doctors who did an amazing job to repair all the damage and stop the bleeding so we still have our son! Thanks guys I'll be trying to set up some future fundraisers like beef and beers and possibly a golf outing for those who may live in or around the Philadelphia , Pa. area. If anyone know's or owns a company that would be willing to donate anything to be auctioned off at a beef n beer I'm having one on 12/21 @ the Plumbers local 690 Union Hall from 8:00 to 12:00 Friday Night. I will eventually have some flyers and a link to this Beef n Beer very soon as it's just around the corner.
