I can assure you that this game is much more fun when your starters are playing well. I had Phil last week and he shot like 4 rounds in the 70's. I do not take him this week and he shoots a freaking 60.

I may owe people points this week.

Everybody that did not have Phil today sucks at this game. And probably no one had him because he sucked last week.He may not break par tomorrow and as up and down as he can be, I would not be shocked if he missed the cut, but damned did not play great today.

Edit: I got 23 lousy points and gained a spot to 4th. I fear it is short lived.

My Unofficial Fantasy Golf Rules and Strategy

6. Over the full season, you can only start a player 10 times. If you move a player into your starting lineup for one round it is considered a start. The system will always show how many remaining starts you have for each player. Unofficial strategy: I don't have a clue how to best manage starts. If you try to save a player for later tournaments his hot play may turn cold. If you always start Tiger or Rory every time they are entered, they won't be available to start later in the year. For me, if a player is hot, I start him regardless.

I have a question. This says over the full season. But the Picks page has the season divided into Winter, Spring, and Summer. Do I need to start saving players for the FED EX Cup now or do we get 10 new times to use them during the next session. Obviously, everyone wants to start Snedy the way he is playing but I need to know if I should save him until later.

You need to save them. 10 starts is for the full season. So Sneds is probably on the bench for me until spring.

But he's HOT! Are points worth more later in the season?

No, but if you use all the good players now, you're screwed when it comes to the Playoffs at the end of the season. There are guys you can count on at this time of year, that do nothing once summer starts.

Exactly, though there's nothing wrong with going with the hot hand, but eventually you'll have to bench him.

Those of us who didn't have Sneds in the lineup got killed this week. He was such a popular choice and so many people had him in the lineup that even though I had a pretty good lineup, I still lost a lot of ground. I was beginning to think that the only way to gain an advantage was to pick good players that others would bypass, but that method won't work when the popular player wins. And to make it worse, Garrigus who was on the way to making bonus points, made a 9 on 14. Some weeks nothing goes your way.

Man, I have managed to claw my way back into the top 5 but this is a lot harder than I thought it would be. You have to constantly watch all the players, and even then it is a crap shoot. The player who is hot one day may not be the next day.

It is nice to see the pros play as erratic as us.

Need to ask advice -- when choosing a lineup, I've been checking how they've done so far this year as well as how they've done at the particular tournament in the past. That ain't workin....

So what's the key? Is it just picking who's hot? Snedeker should've been a "duh" pick....but I'm finding over-analysis isn't a good thing. And did anyone else see Dustin Johnson missing the cut at Pebble?

Haven't you ever heard the phrase, "Past performance is not indicative of future results"? I had no idea they were talking about golf.

The problem is that any one of these guys is capable of missing the cut or shooting a 62 on any of these courses. And the guy who is hot today may miss the cut tomorrow. Look at Garrigus, he was hot, rolling a long looking at a top 5 finish around -13 when boom. He makes a 9 on 14 and finishes T22 at -8. Had he eagled that hole he is a serious contender at the end, but instead he is just one more guy you did not hear about unless you are playing fantasy golf.

Bottom line is I have not figured it out. I got 210 points one week, 98 points the next week, and 199 points the week after that. The problem is the week I had 98 points was the week I researched everything and had picks I thought were going to vault me into 1st place. They took me from 5th to 10th place.

I started Dustin Johnson the first two days but fortunately had Snedeker to back him up. As well as D.J. was playing combined with his good record at Pebble I hoped he would at least be serviceable. I was hoping to keep Snedeker on the bench because I think he's going to be a factor all year and want to save his starts, but at least I got the bonus points out of him.

You need to rotate through the favorites this time of year. My first year in I can remember blowing through some of the better guys 10 starts real fast and I didn't have them come playoff time, I'll chalk it up to a rookie mistake. Lesson learned though, I played Kevin Stadler this week at Pebble and he worked out great!

I considered skipping Sneddy last week. I mean, saving him until the end of the year makes sense, however, he turned out to be worth 76 points last weekend. As volatile as golf is, he may not make the cut two months from now. While Sneddy appears to be the real deal and could usurp Rory and Tiger for number 1 and looks like he is as stable as they come, he is a hangnail away from inadvertently changing his grip and not making a single top 25 from now on. It is seems as that is the difference between a top 10 and MC.
