What was your take on the Watchman movie vs. the graphic novel?

Was not a big DC man - never even read the Watchmen - except for some Batman and especially the Dark Night Returns. The Wachmen and V for Vendetta movies were real good, no doubt.

Frank Miller is a god.

 

The Watchman movie was an absolute abortion, on par with Spiderman 3. The Watchman graphic novel is so good, I've read it at least 4 times, and the movie is totally unwatchable. It's total camp. The book is dark and serious and thoughtful, and the movie is cheese and garbage.

It made me miss the original. Those spaceships took up a lot of my elementary school drawing paper.

 

Me too, until I went back and watched some of the episodes. The special effects were so bad. They used the same shots over and over and over again. But, of course, back then it was the shizzle and nobody cared.

More of a realistic role model.

 

Can't say that I've ever seen that one. Good Will Hunting is also on my list of "movies that make me want to be smarter."

V for Vendetta was an awesome movie, but Moe, you've lost all respect from me for saying the Watchmen movie was good.

I couldn't agree more. I watched the movie on On-Demand and felt like calling Comcast and demanding a refund. Just god awful. Everyone associated with that film should be taken to Comic-Con 2010 and stoned to death.

By the way, I will definitely have to buy the Star Trek movie - with the new young cast - on DVD. It was my must see movie last year and did not disappoint. Something also deliciously ironic about having a Korean American actor cast as Sulu

I didn't like it when the human was the bad guy in charge of the cylons. even as a kid I just looked at it and said why don't they kill that dude a put a gold cylon or the alien with the big head there?

What amazed me about that movie was that the casting was so spot on. Karl Urban was especially great as McCoy.

I actually did get a refund on Watchmen because the power went out for the last 10 minutes. I took that as a sign of some higher power feeling bad that I had sat through the first hour plus.

Watchmen was not that bad. Ending was muddy and the editing got sloppy (why have the big genetically engineered cat if you are not making the monster?)

Me too. That storyline really got played to the end with Superman's "death". Gotta generate buzz somehow to get people to drop 3 bucks on a comic book.
