Clubs You Need In Your Bag

Late last year my wife said that she would like to come to the range with me on our recent holiday over December.

At the time I read the post on the main site, about how to get your wife\girlfried into the game.

I decided to take her to the golf shop, and got her one of those coloured Puma gloves (costs more than the gloves I game!). But anyway, wanted to get her a little excited.

Her birthday was on the 17th of December, and I got her a Adams 8i (one of those real chunky, easy to hit irons). A proper beginner ladies club.

I really didn't want her to hit my MP-53s (which I sometimes struggle with), so I got the club off eBay.

We only had time to go to the range twice, and she is already asking when we can go again. She had plenty of fun, with only that one club.

And the game can be tough enough on beginners, sticking with a single club eliminates some of the variables, and helps build confidence.

But it sounds like you are not a novice, so in your case a few more clubs will do the trick.

I am a 28 HC at the moment, and I can tell you, my hybrids are some of my favourite clubs. I have the Adams A12OS 4H, and it is real easy to hit.

In my Clicgear B3 cart bag on my Clicgear 3.0 pushcart:

Rocketballz 10.5* stock stiff shaft

Adams Idea A3 Boxer 19*

TMag Rocketbladez 4i-6i

Mizuno MP53 7i-PW

Mizuno MP-R12 52*, MP-T11 56*, MP-T10 60*

Some old Odyssey putter (Don't laugh, it gets the ball in the hole nicely)

Bridgestone E6

Walking on air with my True Tours and Kentwool socks

No-one will ever have golf under his thumb. No round ever will be so good it could not have been better. Perhaps this is why golf is the greatest of games. You are not playing a human adversary; you are playing a game. You are playing old man par.

Hybrids would boost some confidence, but I really feel that I should try to learn the shot without them as it could help me out a little bit more in the future. I'm just hoping the sooner I learn through regular irons, the better off I am. But in the future when I get the hang of my swing and shot more, I'd definitely look into some hybrids!
