SPY VIP The Dansome 2,293 Posted December 30, 2012 SPY VIP Share Posted December 30, 2012 UPDATE: Trip now planned for week of June 3- There are talks of people flying to Seattle and driving up to Vancouver togetherQUICK LINKSCommemorative hat threadTravel and Accomodatios threadOK so the "Distinguished" Mr. RP Jacobs has made known his intentions of visiting our fine city of Vancouver, BC Canada in roughly June of 2013. He and I were bouncing the idea of getting others members from the forum and hopefully even the MGS staff themselves to join him. So I thought I would start a thread to gauge interest from others and we could turn this into a MyGolfSpy in Vancouver Golf week. Please feel free to post your interest, thoughts and possible availability/dates and let's see if we can get the ball rolling. Just off the top of my head we could do a 4-5 day deal where we play Nidine & my usual stomping grounds and I'm sure a Tuna or MrLongBall will have their opinions on courses too.If the golf doesn't interest you think of it as a week with Mrs. Manbearpig! Mrs.Manbearpig 12
Party in Vancity woo hoo! Around my birthday too. Should we suggest a couple week spans and see if people are available?

Ok, I have been to Canada, sort of. A friend of mine and I were going to Syracuse NY to install a system. And we decided since we were going to be that close we needed to go see Niagara Falls. So we stopped. Of course since we were that close and at the time you could walk over with just you driver's license we did and looked at the falls. But in all honesty we were more interested in the Hot Dog place we saw near the falls. Maybe it was who I was with but I did not find Niagara Falls any more romantic with Bruce than I did the sunset on Oahu with George. I just did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling around them no matter where I was. Super Tuna 1
I use to live in Calgary but now live in Los Angeles. Calgary to Vancouver would be an easier drive. The flight from LA to Vancouver is faster then that drive, easier and costs less then the gas would. IE Golfspy Tim has no travel related excuse. Nic either! Plenty of excellent course to play up here. Mrs. Super Tuna would be quite happy to hang/shop/suggestions of things to do. Blade 313
Nice pictures Dan. Sure looks like a beautiful area. Makes me want to visit for sure! Got to thinking though. If you got that zip line up, it sure would be an added incentive to get more of us up there! However, now that I think about it, I'm liking Rick's calculations of 1625 ft of cable over my 200 ft if I'm going to try it! Yea, let's go with that shall we? Let us know how the installation is coming would ya?

Blade 313
Ok, I fall asleep for a few hours, wake up, and see that we're already ta two pages on the thread & I'm thinkin "Oh Yea, guys are makin plans," then I come on & see we've gone from makin travel plans to talkin about zip lines, lol? #1, what in the hell's a zip line, and #2, what the hell's that gotta ta do with a flight to Vancity? Blade, what about a 3-4 day "week-end?" fairways & Greens 4ever You must have missed Dan's "big plan" to put a zip line from his balcony to the ground! Everyone was pitching in with design ideas. Anyway, yea, I'll be up for that if it works out for me. I don't have any idea if it will yet though. I may be just trying to get jobs to keep us going! There's not much happening these days. I'll see when we get closer.
SPY VIP The Dansome 2,293 Posted December 30, 2012 Author SPY VIP Share Posted December 30, 2012 excited this thread is getting some action and really nice to see guys like HighFade back and interested. Question, would you guys be more interested in playing our usual stomping grounds or playing the big name local courses. Problem is a lot of the big name ones tend to be overrated and stupid pricey for what they are. SPY VIP The Dansome 2,293 Posted December 30, 2012 Author SPY VIP Share Posted December 30, 2012 Well to get some course convo going here's what's on my list and why. Fraserview Golf Course - At one time the busiest course in Canada and for good reason, amazing layout for a city owned course. PLUS I grew up playing here. Riverway Golf Course - Really solid links style and city owned course. This is where Nidine and I do all our practice and majority of play. Can't believe they still only charge $46 on a weekday Cove Links - 9 holes yes, par 29 yes but it's where we play a ton of the time based on full length par 3's, excellent conditions and no ones else is there. This would be the ultimate gambling evening Rick? Oh look it's Mr.Longball Seymour Golf Course - Old style cut through the trees up Seymour Mountain - views and a very Vancouver flavor to it.
