Show me your Christmas Golf Schwag-er!

I finally got the net set up in the back yard and just had an hour workout with the irons and driver hooked up to the Medicus swing meter. The Medicus is not new but honestly I have not used it very often. I got it to check my swing speed to get the proper flex shaft back when I thought that was the determining factor. So for the past year I have not used it but a few times.

With the driver, I found that posture could effect the SS by 10 mph. I knew that on the holes where I could tee it high and let it fly I leaned over more, but now I know exactly how I should swing. My New Year's Resolution is to spend more time banging balls into the net.

You also gain a lot of swing speed by not having the medicus pushed up against the grip ;)

Two quick points:

1) There's no way I would trust myself to not hit it into my neighbor's yard or house with that setup, but then again you're a lot better than I am

2) I really dislike the medicus. I can get swing speeds of 120 with it. My real swing speed averages about 102.

Gotta agree. just too much room for error

It never occurred to me that i could miss the net from that close. I did not miss the net today. However, even if I did and it some how got past the wooden fence and tree there is no house there but a lake. There is a small storage building with junk piled behind it between my house and the lake but nothing of value. .

Second, the Medicus was not that far down when I was hitting balls. I had already broken it down when I decided to post a picture of it so I slapped it back on. I would say that my Medicus is fairly accurate. I checked it once against the LM at the golf store and it was close. Within 1 mph. But mine unlike some of them will not register unless you hit the ball.

Oh yeah I got on the newsletter woot woot! :P Haha! Easily excited? Maybe a little.

Good thing you don't have any neighbours! Is that how you duck hunt too? Wait for them to land on the lake and then they get an unsuspecting ball in the head. :P

I saw that too, congrats!

Geez, I almost feel like I'm too late to the party (again). Cool stuff, y'all. And I had the exact same thought as several others when I saw that net set-up. I'd hit 19 good ones into the center, but the 20th...? Duck killer. I'm excited about the new set of SCOR wedges that are on the way (50, 54, 58) and the Ecco BIOM Hybrid shoes (black, and so comfortable I can hardly believe it). My golf partner (a.k.a. roommate, spouse, wife) got the SkyCaddie Breeze with a few extra bells and whistles and a new 60* wedge. Now, if only the rain would stay away long enough for the ground to dry a little...

Happy New Year!

I am shocked about the responses about missing the net. This net is new and better than my last one but I have hit into a net for years and never missed and it never occurred to me I might miss the net.

I did have some balls break through the old net after it had some age on it.

As far as duck hunting goes a golfball travels to slowly to hit a duck. First off from that range it takes a hell of a shot to get close. And the 2 times I have come close enough the ducks "ducked" away from the ball. I did not miss the net but I have hit balls into the lake but not many any more.

"Be the Ball" hat?! Are you kidding me? Definitely NOT waiting for next Christmas!

And back to the net conversation (briefly)...I can say that using a painter's canvas as a hitting net does not work really all that well. I had one and was too cheap to purchase a net so I thought I'd try it, something I had to reevaluate after sending a ball through the canvas and into the door of the garage fridge. Short irons were OK, but not so the driver.

Got to circle back here - the first I've checked this thread out because I got nothing golf related for obvious reasons.

Loved those shoes JBones - very envious.

Driver: Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  R flex   - 44.25

Fairways:  Ping G410 5, 7, 9 wood  Alta CB red 65 R flex

Hybrid:  Ping G410  26 degree  Alta CB Red 70 R flex

Irons: Ping G430  7-PW, 45, 50 Alta CB black 65 soft R flex

Wedges:  Ping 195 S54, E58

Wedges and irons are - 1/2” and one degree flat

Putter: Sacks Parente Duke 32.5”

Ball: Titleist Pro VI or Callaway Chrome Soft X ls

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

The only actual "golf gifts" I received were some new golf shirts which I do appreciate but they just don't excite me as much as new equipment. However I did decide to order myself a new SCOR wedge and can't wait to get it in my hands and see what I can do with it!

Got my new SCOR 54 degree wedge in and decided to just put it in play without even breaking it in at the range, my first impressions are that this is going to become one of my "go-to" clubs very quickly, I just need to dial in the distance but I love the feel!

Today, I will do what others will not so that...

Tomorrow, I will do what others can not
