nvgolfdude
Attached is a picture of 2 makers proofs of the putter model that Byron personally games (007 center shaft). It is a near center shaft with a slight toe-hang (about 15 degrees or 3:30). It is very solid feeling. The maker's proofs are an aluminum bronze and a 303 American stainless. If you like a centershaft putter, these are some sweet feeling sticks! david@byronputters.com Best Line of 2010: WOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! TWISTED FREAKING MAGIC!!!!!! Addicted2Golf
I really like that aluminum bronze. I've never gamed a center shafted putter before. I know you said this one has a slight toe hang, but is center shafting to primary way you can make a blade putter face balanced? Can you face balance a blade with... let's say a plumber's neck instead? Just curious. You can get a face balanced putter with a long plumbers neck, a round neck, or a double bend also. Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus

Not at all, any of the necks I mentioned before can be done on an Anser style putter. Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus

Addicted2Golf
My twisty LN is just a bit past face balanced as are the cameron longneck newports... Why does a longneck made a blade putter face balanced? SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 28, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 28, 2010 Why does a longneck made a blade putter face balanced? I think that by extending the neck you alter the imaginary line that the shaft makes to the putter head, making it hit closer to the middle balance point. Look at the double bend that Steve posted and you will see that if you extend the shaft, it hits in about the middle. the long neck does the same thing. or I could be way off on this. nvgolfdude
The neck/shaft placement on the "Spud" slightly to the heel side of center giving it just a bit of toe-hang/toe-flow. All of the other posts here about how to get a face-balanced Anser/blade style putter with a longer plumbers neck, slant neck, or long round neck are spot on. Offset and neck position also affect the amount toe-hang. With a welded neck, the putter maker can create a more face balanced by a combination of positioning and shaft offset. The converse is true also. The unique thing about the Bombora (see other threads) is that Byron can also affect toe-hang by how he shapes the putter for the customer - remove heel weight adds toe-flow, remove toe weight reduces toe-flow. david@byronputters.com Best Line of 2010: WOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 28, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 28, 2010 Nice to know that just once I was not just spitting BS. <_> Does byron adjust the overall weight the same way on the bombora? Addicted2Golf
Very cool. I've played blades all my golfing life, but I've come to the realization that my more comfortable stroke is straight back and through. Everything I've read says that I should be playing a face balanced mallet but I'd rather not. So I think a blade with a longneck or one of the other hosel designs mentioned is going to be my next putter purchase.
