I just read about the new putting stat in ESPN Magazine and then saw it again on Puttzone. I think it's a pretty cool idea, but I'd really like to know how they figure out how many times you "should" putt on each green.

Isn't the should number "2"?

PutterZone doesn't seem to put up a ton of new content, but they do have good articles explaining the basic terms like Toe Hang, Lie Angle, etc.

Good link A2G.

Thanks Matt. You guys have been inspiring me to up my knowledge quotient on putter design. If you can't piss in the tall weeds with the big dogs then stay on the porch..

Glad to be inspirational.

Hell of an expression you've got there...where'd that come from?

I didn't invent it. That one has probably been around as long as you and I have.

I imagine that's true. I was looking for more of a geographical root, as in "It was something I picked up in Arizona" or a family root like "My dad says it all the time."

That's one of the primary reasons why I carried a multi-tool when I used to hike in the desert. Also, a very good excuse not to venture out into the desert areas of a AZ or CA golf course. Well, that and the rattlesnakes, gila monsters, tarantulas, black widows and scorpions.

Having done lots of mountain biking as an undergrad in Santa Barbara, I expected to do the same in AZ. Second trip out, hit some sand and ended just under one of these. The litter of spines was enough to make me thankful that I had two shirts on that day.

Bought a road bike soon after...

This makes me glad I live in the city. Nothing more dangerous than geese on our courses.
