You know you're a club ho when...

 

You aren't a reviewer for a golf site, but you still have 3 sets of iron shafts, a driver shaft, a driver head, a 5 iron head, 3 putters, some grips, some ferrules and some shims sitting within arms reach in your office.

LOL, I was just looking for a putter shaft in my bag and realized I had a problem, when I had to fish through about 100 other shafts.

 

I was going to say that I'm just a shaft ho, but then I looked on my shelf and had 8 driver heads, 6 wedge heads, and 4 putter heads.

Wheww! I must not be a ho by that definition because I can not reach that stuff from where I am right now. I have to take at least 10 steps to reach that. But throw in 4 hybrid heads and a bunch of hybrid and FM shafts.

OK, here goes. Most of that stuff in the sauna has to go. That is maybe 20% of what I had! I got a load of clubs from a shop that went out of business. I was hoping for some goodies mixed in. There were a few. My favorite is my set of fg 17s. There were a ton of wedges, a bunch of old woods which are useless, and some interesting things here and there, but nothing all that great. Funny part was, I was driving home with them in my truck kind of having buyer's remorse. While loading them, nothing was really catching my eye. Paid $300 for everything. I stopped by a Play It Again to see if they wanted them all. I tried $350 then $300. He didn't want them. Then he said, "I'll give you $2 a piece for all the putters you have.". So I pulled them all out... 175 of them! He wrote me a check for $350. There wasn't a single really nice putter in the bunch either. He says, "Shoulda bought the whole thing I guess." At home I pulled anything mildly interesting out and found about a dozen complete iron sets, several old Wilson sets. That's where those Browning sets and the funky wedge with vertical grooves came from. Took most of it to Goodwill. Gave a set or two to friends. I need to sell the rest for a few bucks or donate them somewhere.

 

So no, it's not like I collected that many clubs to play! But it was funny to add to this thread! BTW, I went back to Goodwill the next week to see how they were selling. They said people swarmed on them and they were all gone in a day or two!

 

I have bought a lot of clubs to try for real, especially wedges and irons, so the club ho title does fit I guess, but it's not nearly as bad as the pictures made it look!

Is it bad when your mail person asks you if they can deliver packages every 2 days to save time?

 

Is it equally bad when you go into 2 golf stores in 1 day an the employees tell you they have a few clubs for you that came in? I went in 3 the last day I was off work (Sunday). I was told this at all 3 stores. I bought a total of 4 clubs and a shaft one buddy pulled and saved for me. Didnt hit them at all there, brought them home, hit less than 5 shots with each (oh, meant to mention they give me balls they used in their LM for last month) and sold them all (well, I still have 1 of them). They were too pretty to resist though, lol. Still have the shaft, haven't acquired a club yet.

 

Is it equally bad when a friend at a golf store calls you and says I have one of those fairway woods you like, come get it, and you have 4 identical heads just like it already.

You are a club ho when you haul them to the dump and they tell you you are only allowed 500 lbs per month and you had 750 lbs of golf clubs.

 

In my defense though, a couple of years ago I told every one at the club that I was taking up clubs for the Boys and Girls Club. For three months I was given 1000's of clubs. Most were 30 year old no name blades and early addition metal fairway metals. I search through them and made several decent sets for the kids but the rest went to the garage. I decided to take them to the dump.

 

I did put together another set of irons tonight. So now I have four complete sets, and I have 3 sets of Mizunos, MP33, MP32, MP62. however, I sold the MP32's to a friend of mine. He gets them tomorrow at 1 pm.
