What's your goal for the season?

For me it's to finish the year off 8 or lower and have a lower scoring average than last years 83.

So what about everyone else?

Mrs Westy says it should be to buy no new clubs.......failed already

Awesome stuff MBP - I for one always play better when I stand on the first tee looking good. Dapper pair of strides, clean shoes and a nicely tailored shirt...... They've looked better since I shed 50lbs four years ago!

We have a FedEx cup style thing at our course, all decent size comps have ranking points. Want to be top ten in that this year, was about 15th last year.

Some silverware would be nice of course!

I got sidetracked from last year's goal by illness and work so it's this year's goal.

To win the senior division of the St Pete City Amature - Even after the pneumonia I was tracking but things got too dicey at work. Assuming that we get our Associate Pastor and that things continue the way they are trending, school enrollment up, church attendance up, offerings up, I will be in much better shape this year. I'm still young enough to give it a good run - finished 5th my first year in, didn't play last year.

God has been great to us at Grace Lutheran so I won't complain either way but I'd love to make a run at this thing while I'm young enough and healthy enough to pull it off.

A secondary goal would be to win the A flight of my league - I did that a couple of years ago and would love to do it again - We have some solid players in our league - I've also had the lowest handicap in our league twice in my six years in it - my first two years that wasn't happening but our top guy had dellusions of grandeur and ran off to try the senior tour - making match play a few times in the US Am and the mid-Am along with a plus handicap on a muni do not a Champion's tour player make. He had played so few times outside of Florida in his life that he thought it was because they use different golf balls that he was hitting it so far when he qualified for a Senior Open that was played at altitude somewhere. I had to explain to him that at 2,500 feet the ball was going to fly farther than at sea level. I wonder what happened to him anyway. Good player just not that good.

last year I only played way less than I was hoping for and wasn't on a league... getting out once a week was lucky for me...

This year I'm hoping to play twice a week, and consistently play in the 90's.

I need to get my driver straightened out as well, I think lessons might be in order...

This is identical to my aspirations. I have no expectation of being a single digit handicap, but getting to 77 or 78 every once in a while would be fantastic. I took the first step today by doing a "swing evaluation" at a golf shop. Certainly opened my eyes to some serious flaws in my backswing and gave me a few items to work on. I will probably take a few lessons this summer so hopefully that will help lower my score and increase my distance by a couple of yards.

Want to get the handicap below 10...find the fairway consistently, get my GIR #'s respectable, improve my up-n-down's and lower my putters per round. Also stave off the affects of advancing age by trying to get more fit - hope that can get the SS up a bit...

And in my spare time I'll try to stay employed...

I'm hoping to knock 3-4 strokes off my rounds this year. I average 84-80 per round. I would like to post a few rounds in the 70's. I managed to do it three times last year, but my average round was still 84-80. If I can take a few strokes off, maybe I'll see a few more scores in the 70's.

A: Break 80. I've hit 82 4 times now.

B: Double my GIR's so I don't have to scramble as much.

2B: Kick my ego in the nuts and start playing irons that let me do that.

C: I've got 18lbs to go and 4 months to do it in. I want to do it in 3 or less.

I would like to learn to make a halfway decent one plane swing so I can finish getting my irons fitted. That is my primary goal. Then I would like to pour myself into learning the short game...pitching, chipping, sand, putting.

I feel sort of out of place typing anything in here at all, my goals are a lot different then others goals.

I play the tips, the course rating at my home course is 73.9/140 on a par 72. Remember that scores may look higher then what the handicap sounds like it should be. Example: score of 80 ((80-73.9)*113)/140 = 4.92 differential. It would take you shooting 87 or worse to not break into single digits from the tips at my home course.

1) Reduce my maximum scores to no worse then 80

>> I know one in a blue moon will be over 80 you see PGA Tour pros shoot in the 80s once in awhile.

2) Reduce my handicap to 2 or better. I'm looking to basically drop 2 handicap points by end of the year.

>> It will take roughly playing 76 or better on my home course to pull this off.

3) eat a little healthier and do some more golf related workouts.

>> For those that don't remember I shut my season down in mid Sept and didn't swing a club until Feb of this year.

>> I probably put on 5 lbs over the winter and my cardio was terrible the first time I walked 9. It put a reality check in me that the last thing I want to happen is to get 250+ and be way the hell over weight, that s*** does effect your golf game if you like it or not.

EDIT: I'm currently 3.4 form the tips at my home course, I guess that might help to a realistic goal :)

Since this is my last summer working with a 100 mile round-trip commute from home, I didn't sign up with my "serious leagues" in order to play a final year with my friends and co-workers as frequently as I can. Hey, I just turned 60! I'm pretty sure even the Champions Tour is beyond my reach and my "serious golf" is still for fun :P

On the weekends, I want to start getting familiar with the courses and the people that play them "closer to home." I want meet some folks to play with locally next year.

I'm at my target weight, so hopefully I'll be back at playing strength after my surgeries this Spring. This will be my second weekend "off restrictions" to work on my swing, so I just want to keep building up endurance. I'm happy with where my mind and ball striking are for this time of the year.

Since my USGA HC has been "frozen" our "off-season began last November, I'm playing to a 17.3 HC and I want to start off this Spring on pace to maintain it (for a change - lol).

I think a realistic goal for this year is a REAL 12 HC from the white tees.

The "other" golf goal I'm considering, since I already have a launch monitor and there are VERY FEW club fitters in my part of the country, is to get setup to start building my own clubs and making club adjustments. I'm not sure I'll pursue becoming a certified club "fitter" but I would like to be setup to take care of my own equipment adjustments and those of my friends.

Wow, well I'll tell you what... my number one goal is to go out and play some golf and have a great time with friends on the course this year.

If we're talking actual golf improvement goals, than sheesh I guess I should be embarrassed after reading some comments on here (but I'm not because

).

I was actually talking with Dan-o earlier about this:

2) Consistently play 95

3) Break 90

Thanks for asking (Great thread idea!) :)
