The Artful Duffer
Ok, I'm at a point where I'm kinda stumped and forgive me if this is a simple(aka TheArtfulDumbass taking over)thing. I've got my Adams A12Pro Hybrid Head I know the shaft I'm using trimming etc but I am at a complete loss when it comes to picking a ferrule. I've seen a couple different options and I'm just looking for basic black but not sure what I need to finish this project off. I get that I need one to fit a 370 tip but noticed that some have a small collar that fits into the hosel where others just seem to fit flush. What am I not seeing here? Any help is appreciated as always. Thanks in advance. Walkerjames
I would think the flush style would be what you want. But you could PM Rookie he would know for sure! RoverRick
I do not think you need the collar on the Adams. Titleist uses the collar but they are .355 tapered tip and some others may can use the collar but here is the deal. Any of them can use the flush type, but only certain ones can use the collar type. BK in TEXAS
Any of them can use the flush type, but only certain ones can use the collar type. Yup. Unless, it's an OVER snap collar like the older TM Rescue Dual uses. Then it would look funny. The only real advantage to using a collared ferrule is it will line up perfectly with a hosel that accepts collars. Flush ferrules may be off a touch. RookieBlue7
Look inside the hosel for your answer. If there's a place for a collar, but a collared ferrule. I generally don't use any collared ferrules. Epoxy will fill that same gap, and collared ferrules sometimes creak more than it would if you just filled that gap with epoxy. More parts there to cause friction. The main thing is, especially if its graphite, is to make sure that there is room for a gap there either for a collar or to fill with epoxy to ensure that there is something between shaft and the edge of the hosel as that's where you'll see breakage the most on graphite, from poor prep and friction on a sharp hosel edge. Collared ferrules aren't 100% necessary, but the cup at the top of the hosel is if its graphite. And if its a little large, emery cloth followed by a swipe of acetone can remedy that (turning the ferrule down).
