SHOW OFF! - How Do You Mark Your Balls?

I've always used the Predator 3 dot laser scope right of the number.

That's great. My wife likes to mark hers that way too. She found some on the first hole the other day (it borders the range) and got all excited. Our home course has a lot of water and quite a few forced carries. She is a beginner so she loses lots of balls and plays with anything she can find. She got ticked when I told her that she wasn't supposed to play with them and lots of golf courses will kick you off for playing them.

It's all about the short game, unless you can't keep it in play!

What's in my Bag:
Driver: Adams Speedline Super LS 10.5 with Excalibur T7+ tour stiff shaft
3 Wood: Adams Speedline Super LS 13 degree with Excalibur TFW Tour stiff shaft

Wedges:49 degree Dave Pelz wedge with a Nippon N.S. Pro Modus tour 120 x flex shaft. 54,64 Dave Pelz wedges with Rifle spinner shafts 59 Degree Scor wedge with rifle spinner shaft.
Putter: Bentinardi Ben Hogan Big Ben Center shafted 33 inches with best grips custom pistol putter grip.

Ball: Titleist Pro V1X, Callaway Hex Chrome +

Just a single orange dot right of the Chevron from Callaway. If by some chance someone else has a similar mark, I keep a black sharpie to put a black dot next to the orange one.

Ha! I found it! I knew there had to be an existing thread on this topic.

When I first started playing, my dad got me one of those stencils with lines and pictures and letters and such. I went nuts with it and made my balls look like collages. My sister went extra nuts and that was fine with me because it kept her busy.

Somewhere along the line, I wised up and started buying AAAA used golf balls. For those unfamiliar with the heading systems, these typically have logos of courses, foundations, companies, etc but are otherwise in perfect playable shape. I considered those logos my "mark."

Recently, I've been picking up my skill level and lose less balls so I invested in new new balls. I still didn't bother to mark them because it wasn't an issue, until it was. My buddy and I were both in the fairway in a league match playing a Titleist 2. Now off the drive, it was clear whose was which because I was about 20y past his but who knows what'll happen after our second.

I decided I'd better mark mine just in case and fumbled through my bag till I found the stencil kit. Now I didn't take the time to put a perfectly shaped fish on the ball, I just filled in a simple to the right of the number like this:

c6qNoL5.jpg

This one survived 18 so the mark is a little faded but you get the gist. I really liked the way it looked at address so I started marking all my balls this same way on both sides of the ball. It's simple, but it makes me happy.

When I play Chrome Softs, I will sometimes mark below the V so that it looks like a medal 🥇

I usually just go with the three little dots somewhere around the number or next to name

I draw a line around the entire ball (I use a 2 1/2" pic elbow) in a unique color like maroon.. The primary purpose of the line was for putting however if I set it up correctly on the tee I can see the ball strike on my driver. FYI the pic elbow at .90 is cheaper than any ball marking product.

I draw a red line through the alignment aid, the another red line perpendicular to the other on one end.  Looks like a big red T.  The stem of the T points to my intended putting line and I square my putter face to the top of the T.  It clearly marks my ball, and it gets my putter aligned correctly. I have to do this to get a square putter face because after I get my putter aligned I look at the hole and not the ball when I putt.  I also do the same off the tee.

Kenny that's interesting - I'll have to try the t mark.

I got a Tin Cup stencil at Christmas, going with the Canadian theme. Used to just draw a happy face with one eye closed.

6 dots around the number--Because that is what my old man done and I copied him-- Back when he ran the golf course I always ended up with the higher numbered Titleists because most of the gamblers were so superstitious they would not play higher numbered balls and I could buy them from the lot at pro cost. My old man never played a ball numbered over 2. It never made any difference at all to me then or now I will play any number. I was laughing yesterday thinking of him. I had got hold of some Snell balls and was playing a #99. He would have freaked out.  I think a few years ago T-Mag had a deal where you could order any number ball you wished. An old racing buddy of mine who wheels and deals with antiques and estate sales picked up a dozen with #39 on them which was the number I ran on most of my cars. He sent them to me I think I still have them on the top shelf of the closet.
