So my league from college has finally died out and I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in creating a new one. It would be great to get a 12+ team league.

There are a number of ways to do it. I've never run a league, so I don't know many of the details aside from the fact that it pays to win. $50 buy-ins are the high side of average, but the payout is great. $20 is pretty average, and still encourages the participants to remain involved.

 

This is what the payout structure is in a $50 league I have played in.

 

Payout for the League:

 

Top 6 in the Upper Division Playoffs and Bottom 6 in the Lower Division Playoffs-

 

1st $200

2nd $90

3rd $70

4th $50

5th $25

6th $25

 

Division winners $25. That way all division winners are assured of getting their money back. The two teams with byes will be assured of $75.

 

West - $25

East - $25

Central - $25

 

$25 to pay to the highest weekly score of the season

 

$40 for the six teams in the Toilet Bowl/Lower Division Playoffs.

$30 to the winner

and $10 to second

My leagues I play and run are $50-$100 entry. Most pay first and second at the end of the year. Most are a 75/25% structure. First getting the lion's share. Paying all the other places is like little league where everyone gets a trophy.

Looks like the consensus is $10-$20 buy in. I like the 75% - 25% split for the winner and runner up.

I think the smaller buy in league is going bye, bye - too bad I finished first and second in that one the past two seasons. (I lost the championship game two years ago because the guy I was playing had Matt Flynn vs. Calvin Johnson - who plays Matt Flynn in a championship game you might ask - a guy from Green Bay would be the answer.)

HAHA, I can't WAIT to see what Flynn does this year. I'm sure that every good Packer fan is rooting for him at least a little bit.

 

I'm really glad I'm not the only one who wanted to have a money league rather than a free one. It really does make it much more fun. 75%/25% sounds good to me!

Next question becomes will it be an IDP league or boring old team D's? PPR or non-PPR?

I've always wanted to try an IDP league! For anyone that doesn't know, IDP means you draft the defensive players the same as the offense, instead of just drafting a defense.

 

If we do PPR (point per reception), I think it needs to be .5 or less.
