Distance guesstimate

I'm thinking about replacing my 4i with another hybrid. I just haven't been hitting it that well lately and the hybrids have been working. My current hybrid is an 18° TMaG Rescue '11 and it goes about 220-225yds. I'm looking to fit something in to the 210ish distance. What loft would you expect to fill this gap? I was thinking 21° might do the trick, but not really sure.

 

I know it's all guess work and I should probably go hit some clubs, but I don't always trust launch monitors and the Rescue '11 club is pretty cheap used so I'll most likely just find a good deal and buy it.

It's the Amp Cell 4i so it's 21°. It think I'll try the 22° rescue '11 that way I can dial it up or down if I need to and it should fit in that gap.

FWIW...

 

My 27Ëš 5i (AP2) and 28.5Ëš 910H go the same distance.

My 25.5Ëš 910H goes 15 yards farther.

 

Since I was looking to fill a distance gap like you...not get max distance....I cut the Hybrids down to iron lengths....NOT typical hybrid lengths. My intention was to directly replace the 4i and 5i. I just found them easier to control that way.

I agree with you that the 21* is the loft to go to. When I do my guesswork, I always use the base rule that 3* of loft distance is equivalent to 10 yards. Using that rule, the 21* fits right in there.

Going to try and experiment with my current 18° today and see if I can get the yardage adjusted. Going to crank it all the way higher on the loft and choke down a little bit and see what happens.

But when you crank the loft you'll close the face. AAAAAGGGGGGGGH

 

Whoever said the 3 degrees for 10 yards is about right - also you need to be very mindful of the gap between your longest iron and your shortest hybrid. Of course having a 4 iron with the same loft as my old 2 iron will do the trick.

Yea, then I'd look at a 22-24*, depending on the type of hybrid.

I am so annoyed about OEM's jacking up irons in the sake of distance and getting rid of higher lofted clubs that would help them score better. So as not to thread Jack I am starting a new thread to discuss this further.
