Walkerjames
So I did this driver For RP a while back and I thought I'd share the steps it took with everybody. Step 1 Get a Driver! ( this is a very important step) If its your first time painting a driver I would get a cheap one to practice on first or get one from someone else! LOL. Step 2 Prep Tape off any parts that you don't want sanded and then I sanded the paint with p220 sand paper, this helps open up the paint so the stripper can really get under it ( you don't have to sand it but it makes the next part of this step easier) Also as you can see in the picture I cap of the end of the hosel so no stripper can get in there! Get to stripping! You know what I mean! USE GLOVES,EYE PROTECTION and a MASK!!' This stuff is no joke! And also really wash your hands before using the washroom! That's an important one. I use a paint burst to put the stripper in the driver and then put plastic wrap and it to keep the stripper from evaporating ( I don't really know if the plastic wrap is really needed I have always done it this way) Once the stripper has done its job I remove the paint ( I scrub it with a red scuff pad) Water will neutralize the stripper.some paint will be left behind I just sand it off P320 sand paper. Step 3 Paint Mask off the areas you are not painting i.e. face sole etc. Then I clean it with a wax and grease remover. Then once clean and masked a spray on two coats of a 2 part direct metal sealer Then it's time for some color and remember who this driver is for! I used House of kolor and made a custom mix of RP pink Then time for some shine I put on two coats of PPG 8188 Glamour clear Once the paint was dry it was time to do the paint fill RP wanted to fill it with the same hot pink as the top but I thought it would look better with a two tone fill. And he didn't send it back so I think he agreed. lol And that's that! Oh I almost forgot the Most important step of all!!' That was close......... Enjoy a well deserved Break! I hope this will be helpful to any members wanting to change the driver up a bit!! clr944
Great work...You make it look easy. A few comments or questions; 1) Is there a rule of thumb for removing the masking tape after spraying? Should the paint be wet, semi dry, or fully dry when removing the tape? It's hard to get good clean paint lines. 2) How much wet sanding (2000/1500 grit) are you doing, if any, between the base coats and clear? Thanks

Thanks 1) I use fine line tape from 3m and its really good for edges. I pull the tape off after its dry. Just be careful to pull the tape away from the edge not toward it. If that makes sense. 2) I don't sand between coats unless the is some dirt or Somthing in the base. I hope that answered your questions. SMRT
Nice Job. I did this to a couple of drivers that had scratches on the crown and then I started repainting all of my woods to match with flat black. I wish I had your booth! I would have a lot less sanding between coats. Can I borrow it? I kid!

Hula Rock
HaHa, LMAO, I'm such a dumbass, lol. I came into this thread on page 2 and saw RonnieMac's post about no likin his Stage 2 and so I go get a few pics of my pink Stage 2 that WJ did and I was gonna say, "Now THIS is what a custom paint job should look like." When I came back, for some reason, I landed on page 1 and saw all these pics of my driver and I was like "WTF?" LMAO Regarding trying it yourself, I would find out what WJ wants, give it to him, and sit back and wait for a masterpiece to arrive. Seriously, I've set this down next to the Bubba G25(Pink LE), and it blows it away. Literally, not figuratively speaking. He truly is amazing Ok, I'm finished Fairways & Greens 4ever "Regarding trying it yourself, I would find out what WJ wants, give it to him, and sit back and wait for a masterpiece to arrive."
