Sluggo42
So one of the best tips I've had in a while was to get the forged CB clubs, and to quit trying to be a pro and hit the blades. I might be able to hit the blades now that I'm swinging pretty well, but I have gotten away with quite a few shots that the old mp-33's wouldnt have let me have. Another was from this site, suggesting to get the club more into the fingers, rather than the palm. Another was to try out the MG C4 Tour ball. Its a pretty darn nice ball for $19.99 Another was to move the ball back an inch in my putting stance... Weird huh? What tips stick in your mind that helped in some way or another? GolfSpy WD
Yep, Absolutely!! At the age of 7yo, my grandmother(A 4-time State Women's Am Champion) told me that when it was time, she would get me a teacher(I was 11yo when I had my first lesson) and he was THE ONLY person that I was to listen to. Until then, she would be my teacher(Though an Am, she, a HS Principal, also was a golf instructor), and again, I was to listen to noone but her. She said that the only "tips" that I was to ever acccept were for work rendered, haha. I've adhered to her advice my whole life, lol, and it's served me well. I started with my teacher at the age of 14yo and stayed with him for the next 36+ years, until his passing. It's funny cuz in '09, he said that the worst things to come to golf were the golf mags and the Golf Channel, haha, due to all of the tips offered. Fairways & Greens 4ever I tell that to my boy all the time. Once he's ready to try another teacher, then I'll stop being his coach. People seem to feel its ok to go up to kids and give them bad swing advice. They do it to my boy all the time to the point where we've come up with a canned response: "Thanks, next time I'm on the range I'll have to try that" One guy told him to stop using his legs to create lift when swinging @GolfSpy_WD

Sluggo42
I meant smart alecks in a nice way... Interesting though, in some of these things I never thought of, along the lines of DONT give or take tips. Two holes in today with a stranger at a new track, the guy told me to please watch his swing and tell him what he needs to do. So I told to hit it in the middle, and sink all putts... The guy hits it about 175 , but right down the middle. He was about 65. What in the world would I possibly tell him? What I was looking for was small tidbits that you personally remember, not major swing structural changes... Not looking to change the world today... RookieBlue7
Hey, I wasn't being a smart arse when I said "don't drink and hit driver". I like you son's canned response though good answer. I have had some guys that want me to work with their grandsons etc but I politely decline. I am in no way shape or form a golf instructor. I do a lot of things wrong in my swing and I do things that are not fundamentaly right but get away with it. I cannot honestly tell you what I do. I will say one thing I am mostly an instinct and feel player and that is two things I cannot explain or even begin to.
