Mr_Theoo
I know MGS had a story showing the spy pictures of these irons but didnt hear much more about them. http://www.mygolfspy.com/spy-pics-2014-adams-xtd-lineup/ Then i got an email today from Golfsmith that they were available for pre-order. Does anyone have in more info on them? MmmmmmBuddy
I have hit these as well as the Driver, fairway and hybrids.. . The Irons will come stock with 3 and 4 DHy hybrids, and 5-pw. KBS C-Taper is the stock steel shaft, and Iomic Sticky grips are also stock. The set is available with standard 3 and 4 irons if you like, but it is the same price. I love the way they look, and the perform as advertised. The velocity slot in the club really does improve thin mishits. I HATE the sound. HATE HATE HATE!!! I really wanted to like these enough to replace my current Adams CB1's. (it is time) But I can not get past the sound. Too reminiscent of Diablo forged irons from a few years ago. Some of the younger guys at my shop LOVE them!! I must be becoming a curmudgeon.. Bah.. All in all, good performance, great look, terrible sound. qwagmire
Was there anything on set make up or custom options? They had no club info other than steel or graphite, 5, 6, 7, or 8 club options, with the 3/4 irons being DHy hybrids or actual 3/4 irons as Buddy mentioned. No shaft, grip, or other info. FWIW I do not like Iomics. Well I like them, just not the though of spending over $100 to regrip them...

Tyk
I don't hate them, but they sure don't look as good as the CMB's, or really as good as any of Adams other recent offerings. The slot. . .meh. . .not a factor for me, but if it makes them sound like the RocketBladz. . with a look like that then they're not on my short list. On a tangential note, I don't know a single person bagging the RocketBlades, or any new TM iron this year. I know lots of guys that went to the demo. Seeing a whole lot of Cleveland HiBore irons being bagged, a couple guys got some Pings, several new Mizuno sets, but zero TM. Anecdotal evidence that TM missed the mark? lmh3
I tested these today as our local rep was making his rounds. The driver was surprisingly good, the fairways were very good, the hybrid was great as you would expect from Adams. The irons were intriguing, after hearing his spiel about the slot and floating face for increased ball speeds, I wanted to see how consistent the distance and flight would really be. I got on the Foresight with the six iron and dropped a couple of real balls rather than range balls to see how they performed. I didn't find them any longer than my current irons and did run into a little bit of inconsistency in distances from shot to shot, my distance variance was seven yards with five balls, club head speed was within a mile an hour but launch and spin seemed to vary from swing to swing more than I am used to. lmh3
I wasn't with Callaway them, but I did hit the Diablo Forged and that is the same result I would get with them. I just think that they haven't been able to control the face flex on theses thin faced irons. The X Hot Pro was the best at it so far with the rigid backing high on the face, I'm hoping the new Apex irons offer something similar to prevent the occasional hot one off the face. I think that the XTD irons felt a little more iron like at impact than the Diablo Forged, the ball still jumped off the face, but gave less of a hollow, hybrid type feel that I remember from the Diablo Forged.
