Another long time friend and I are still ace-less after decades of playing the game. Like so many, we've been very close but close just dosen't count. We started sharing pictures of our latest "close encounters" to commiserate with one another. I thought it would be fun to start a larger therapy group here on MGS.
I'll start off with my most recent. Hole #17 at Desert Hills GC in Yuma, AZ. Playing at 140 yards to the front flag, 8i. 😢

Closest ever: Didn't grab a picture, but had a shot at Tobacco Road, hole 6, that ended up 2 inches directly behind the flag. Would've been a great 1st ace considering they give you a skull for it.
Most recent: last week, Mammoth Dunes, flag tucked on the right (picture from a past round), played the backstop on the right and rolled probably within 6 inches of the cup on the way by, ended with a 6 footer:
For the record, I did make both birdies.
