I’ve been lucky enough to be sent 2 of the new putters so will be trying these out and seeing how they perform. They will be up against my current putter, EvnROLL Zero Z1, and as they cost a lot less I’m interested to see how they will perform.

As an Arccos user, I am excited and confused on how well this would work. I personally don't use their Link Pro but I know people that do and they have told me that it is "spotty at best." Hopefully this is an improvement. My main concern is the shot tracking and club detection without any sensors. If I were to be 60 yards off of the green and needed to punch out with a 7i, how would it be able to detect that? Or if I'm 10 yards off of the green and decide to putt it instead of chip, how would it know that I am doing that? Like I said, I am excited, but the more I think about it, the more skeptical I get.

What do you all think about it? Are you an Arccos user? If not, does this make you want to join Arccos?

Its foundation is a one‑piece forged 1020 carbon steel head, shaped and finished in Germany, giving it the tight grain structure and acoustic purity associated with forged irons from larger, more traditional OEMs. While the profile remains compact, the internal geometry reflects design choices that make the head far more playable than a traditional muscleback.

Structural Geometry Built for Stability, aka “Face-Stretching”

Unlike many blades that taper mass toward the center, the VGI03 uses a consistent cross‑section from heel to toe, producing a more uniform moment of inertia across the face. This geometry reduces how dramatically the head twists when impact drifts marginally away from center. The result isn’t “forgiveness” in the game‑improvement sense, but a more predictable response pattern - particularly helpful in the longer irons, where slight mishits normally widen dispersion.

The face is also stretched subtly along its horizontal axis, increasing usable strike area without altering the visual lines golfers expect from a blade. This extended geometry lets the center of gravity sit in a more stabilized position relative to the leading edge, maintaining workable flight windows while adding directional consistency.

Mass Placement That Respects the Blade Purist

Instead of relying on hollow constructions or polymer inserts, the VGI03 maintains a pure forged body but uses perimeter-biased material distribution to quiet down gear-effect exaggeration. The geometry pushes just enough mass toward the toe to counteract the natural rotation typical of a compact blade, helping impact feel remain consistent across a wider portion of the face.

Importantly, these shifts are nearly invisible at address. The topline stays thin, the sole width remains traditional, and the offset is minimal - proof that the engineering occurs inside the form, not at the expense of it.

Impact Dynamics and Feedback

The 1020 carbon steel forging produces a dense, crisp vibration signature that communicates strike quality instantly. However, because the clubhead maintains more stability through impact, the feedback is informative rather than punitive. Players still feel exactly where contact occurred, but the ball flight doesn’t fall apart when impact leans slightly high‑toe or low‑heel.

This is where the VGI03 breaks from the long-held “blades are for perfect ball strikers” assumption; it maintains the design aspects that make a blade…a blade - workability, face awareness, and trajectory control - while smoothing out the volatility that typically comes with small misses.

What Does All This Sweet Tech Talk Mean?

The engineering decisions manifest in several practical ways:

• Directional consistency improves, especially on toe strikes that would normally bleed offline. Trust me – as a notorious toe guy, this feature is key for me…and the results match the claims.
• Distance variation tightens, reducing the penalty of slight mishits without inflating total distance. Strikes a groove (or two) low still go straight, and the distance penalty is very minimal. I found similar results with strikes high on the face and out on the toe as well.
• Trajectory remains fully workable, because the center of gravity stays close to the shaft axis and the head doesn't rely on undercut cavities or face flexion.
• Feedback stays pure, retaining the communication blade players want while avoiding the harsh drop‑off that many musclebacks exhibit.

A Blade Designed for the Mid Golfer

The VGI03 is not meant to replace the traditional blade experience—it refines it. By pairing a compact forged shape with subtle structural innovations, Vice has created a club that rewards skill while acknowledging how golfers actually strike the ball. It’s still a blade at heart, but it has been engineered with a more realistic understanding of impact variability.

Two weeks ago, I was shopping player’s distance irons after continued frustrations with inconsistent results with my player’s CBs. What was the point of bagging player’s irons if they hurt me more than they helped?

After two rounds with the Vice VGI03 irons – I’ve transitioned from CBs to blades…and I’m looking forward to being completely insufferable about it.

Mizuno JPX One and One Select Driver

Well Bridgestone has possibly done it again with the Boom IT ball designed specifically for juniors with a junior type swing.   It's listed 40 compression should fit those junior swings just fine.   And don't be surprised if you see it to start to sneak in the bags of some of those who let's say Junior years are 40 to 50 years in the rearview mirror.   Just sayin!

CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2026) — New Scotty Cameron Phantom mallets have arrived on the PGA TOUR, with next generation Phantom 5, 7 and 9R head designs and a range of neck and shaft configurations available to players at the season-opening Sony Open in Hawaii.   

The new models build upon the success and feedback of Phantom players on the PGA TOUR, including 2025 winners Russell Henley (Phantom X 5), Justin Thomas (Phantom 5), Cameron Young (Phantom 9.5R), Michael Brennan (Phantom 7.2), Ryan Gerard (Phantom 5.2) and the 2013 U.S. Open champion (Phantom 5). 

One reason players gravitate towards the Phantom family is the stability and MOI provided by a larger mallet profile. The increased footprint also creates space for different alignment offerings, from direct features like sightlines to the more subtle angles and contours of the putter head shape and design.  

“There’s an element of forgiveness to it that just I think in my head makes sense,” said long-time Phantom loyalist Cameron Young. “I’ve just grown to like the way that [Phantom mallets] look. I look at a blade now and I have more trouble lining it up.” 

Young has played a Phantom putter for the entirety of his PGA TOUR career, gaming various head shapes and neck configurations since 2021. Last year, he made an early season move at the 2025 RBC Heritage from a plumbing neck to a jet neck within the 9R head shape, seeking more toe flow in his putting stroke. 

“He’s always wanted to feel flow in the putter,” said Scotty Cameron Tour Rep Brad Cloke. “We’ve started in face-balanced mallets for him and we’ve kind of worked our way down to a point where he’s felt comfortable enough to feel the toe flow the way he wants it and get the release of the putter that he wants.”  

The switch paid off. Young delivered the best putting season of his career, finishing the year 7th in Strokes Gained: Putting (+0.642 per round), T6 in Putting Average (1.704) and 4th in One-Putt Percentage (44.57%).

I just read Tony Covey's article on the new SP+ wedges.  I commented on the article page, and will repeat it here...$229+ for a single wedge is borderline criminal, regardless of the tech, unless these wedges prove to hold up better than most current wedges. 

Maybe the MIM construction of these faces will provide that?  That would the real kind of data I'd love to see someone produce with robot testing....if a wedge could both match (or at least get VERY) close to the top of the spin, accuracy, and forgiveness categories while still retaining the highest percentage of spin and proper launch conditions as a new wedge versus the competition after 10,000 shots, then that would be a game changer.  Maybe this does it?  I'll never know, at least when it's priced at $229+.
