  1. I have definitely thought about going away from my set pw but I am very consistent with it. That’s the only reason I haven’t. I have played for a pretty long time but never really fully understood the bounce aspect of wedges and what I need. I would like to do a wedge fitting but I’d like to do it outside on real grass. I feel like with turf it hides a lot of that stuff for me. I can go into my fitting studio I go to and hit pitch shots with my 52 just fine all day. On the course it’s a different story. But definitely something I have been wanting to explore lately especially with the radical change in my approach game from new wedges.
  2. I admittedly have a pretty strange wedge game. I have a set pw that is 46* then my two sm9 wedges are a 52* f grind and a 58* t grind. I only play full shots with my 52 since it’s the grind optimized for “full shots”. I find for me it digs too much on pitch shots and chip shots. My full 52 typically goes about 115 yds and a full 58 goes 95-100. So anything inside 100 yds I’m using my 58*. Took some getting used to and a lot of range sessions to dial in my yardages inside 100 yds. I used to only chip with my 52* but had to change that approach when I updated my wedges. I only have 13 clubs in the bag so looking back I wish I would have went with 50, 54, 58 setup for better gapping but there’s always room for new clubs
  3. That is pretty interesting. Makes sense too. Thanks for sharing! We definitely can get hyper focused pretty easily when looking at all these numbers lol
  4. 100% most likely swing related or consistency gotta love it tho always something to work on! Definitely was thinking about getting a fitting and I know the upside just couldn’t stomach paying 1.5-2k right now. Definitely in my future tho! It was just time to upgrade from my 20 year old mizunos
  5. Yes it was indoors on mats, and I do find I struggle a lot more with strike consistency when hitting off mats than when I’m playing a round. Most ranges around me are mats only so that makes it hard for me to feel like I get a good practice in.. but thanks for the input!! Looking forward to getting them out on some real conditions
  6. Ok that makes a lot more sense to me. I’m new to all these numbers so I can get a little lost in them. The toe mishit is pretty interesting tho I never thought about getting longer shafts. I am 6’0” and I do have a fairly upright stance. I’m currently working on not being so straight up tho and my strike quality has improved on average. Thanks for the explanation!
  7. My miss is almost always on the toe so that makes sense
  8. I recently got fit for a driver and with my purchase it included a couple free track man sessions. I went for one today as I just picked up some new Takomo 201cbs. I was hitting the ball pretty well(still adjusting to new irons) and the fitter walked by to check on me so i just asked the simple question of if the irons seemed to be a good fit for me. Just a general question. He started getting into the numbers and he said my good hits were solid he just didn’t like the smash factor. With my 6 iron the highest I got was 1.41. My swing speed with 6 iron is around 91-93mph. The lowest smash factor I got, which was a mishit, was around 1.25. He told me that my mishits should still be around 1.35. I took it as him insinuating I need to get fit for irons. Just curious if that was just “fitter talk” or if it’s not as big of a deal as he made it, considering it was a mishit he was harping on. Any feedback is appreciated.
  9. 1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I started playing freshman year of highschool (2005). Been off and on since the end of high school but have been consistently playing/ practicing for the last year again. Currently my handicap is 11.4 my normal scores and mid to low 80s. 2. What do you love about golf? The challenge every time you pick up a club. I love constantly trying to be better than my last shot or my last round. And also it’s never the same, it doesn’t get boring. 3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I love the unbiased reviews. I like the testing process of using real golfers across the scale of skill. It gets tiring seeing scratch golfers or robots testing clubs and equipment I’m interested in. 3. Where are you from? What is your home course? I am originally from central California but moved to DFW at the end of 2021. Wouldn’t say I have a home course, I tend to play a lot of courses around me and don’t mind driving a little further for a new course to play. I typically practice at Coyote Ridge though as it’s the closest/nicest practice facility! 4. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Weather and weather. Summer is insufferably hot and humid and winter is freezing/dormant grass. 5. What do you do for a living? I work on power lines for the local utility company in Dallas, Oncor Electric Delivery. 6. How’d you pick your user name? It’s been my go to username for some time. Easy to remember and usually is not taken! 7.
