  1. I'm a bit late to the convo, but I can't imagine a better deal than using lostgolfballs.com (no, I don't work for them). They always have a 15% off code, and during tournaments they do 20 (currently running 20% off for usopen). You can then get a top quality ball for great price and don't have to chase sales or anything like that. There are always people that play expensive balls....and they always lose them....so always a good supply. I'm a titleist AVX fan (plays like a softer prov1 with less spin....YMMV). A dozen near mint (4A) AVX balls is $13.59. To get free shipping (save $10) you need to spend $79....so you get 6 dozen for $81.55 and dont have to worry about buying balls for a while. I have ordered from them for years, always a great product (just don't get the refinished balls, 4A and 5A are great). The balls usually look like they were lost on the first couple holes, sometimes with logos or pen marks, but otherwise just like brand new. If you must have brand new cheap balls to lose, I would look in to wilson zips off amazon. Maybe the cheapest balls (other than maybe noodles), but hitting on the launch monitor fast and slow, numbers are pretty good across the board.
