Hey everyone, figured this was the most logical place for my first post on the forum.
I started this season (2024) after years of interest and golf video games. I don't have an official handicap yet but in the couple of rounds I have played of 9 hole par 3's I am shooting around a 40 while I figure out the fundamentals. (Putting has so far been my Achilles' heel.
Golf is great for me since I have some medical issues that don't allow me to be as athletic as used to be while still giving me an excuse to get out there and enjoy the courses and do something physical. It's also great that I have somehow convinced my wife to go with me so the quality time out there hitting balls is always nice!
MyGolfSpy provided me some SUPER valuable articles in the very beginning of my life as a golfer and I just stuck with it as I continued on. I can neither confirm or deny knowing any other spies however.
I am from Littleton CO and my current "home course" is Harvard Gulch.
Best thing about golf in my region is that there are so many options for golf, practice, and equipment. The worst thing about my region is definitely going to be the region and the decently long off-season.
I am a photographer by trade but it is slowly going by the wayside with so many capable personal devices on the market. Cell phones and Go-pros have really made photography something that everyone can do and I don't hate that idea. Currently I am setting up a YouTube channel to document my journey from no experience to "scratch golf" so I have been focusing on that as I get my fundamentals in order. I have also been dabbling in golf club repair, restoration, and customization so maybe some of that on the side.
I picked my username as it fit the bill. After a longer than I would like to admit brainstorming session I settled on Ace Apprentice and I like it given the fact that I am still very much in the fledgling stages of learning this lifetime sport.
