About Me

I went to bed last night at 18 years old.  Woke this morning at 62.  How did that happen? Oh, yes time flies. 'Boy wonder' to 'boy, I wonder what happened to my game!'

I play in the Northwest several times a week, schedule permitting. Lots of rain, occasionally snow rounds, and many a windy day.  I quit walking the course a few years back due to foot pain, but found my way back to walking [see my review of the MGI Navigator] and enjoy the game so much more from a pedestrian viewpoint.  I play some tournament golf [mostly badly] and hang with 3 different groups.  One very serious about golf, one not so serious but play regularly, and one group that just likes to tee it up and drink beer.  All very fun.

I have built my own clubs, re-grip at least once a year, and have tried just 'bout every putter and putting style out there.  My handicap?  My putting.  I play to a 10 GHIN, but every year I lose a little more distance and gain a lot more patience.  I also gain another stroke on my handicap.

I carry my driver about 230 to 250 depending on course and health conditions, 7 iron to 150, and I draw my 56 degree wedge [except when I want to do it!].

Been golfing for 50 years and every one of them has had memorable moments.  Even the bad shots have a place of respect in my pantheon of memories, because each one makes me, in some way or another, a better golfer.  My life-long addiction to the game is seldom matched by my friends, but they put up with me because I always buy the first round of drinks.  Skoal!
