  1. I'm biased in favor of natural. The classic architects of early 1900s that took the land as it was, MacKenzie, Ross, Tillinghast and others from their Era and those thay influenced. I'm also a fan of links golf, wind and ocean settings. Having said that my criteria include Interesting and diverse Conditioning Challenging but fair Vistas Overall: just plain fun Unfortunately, the best courses require travel from my home in Tucson. Bandon Dunes (I work there in summers), Monterrey Penninsula, Pinehurst, Hilton head, Ireland and Scotland. From my experience, Monterey and Bandon are as good as it gets. Caveat, I haven’t yet played in Melbourne or New Zealand. Next!
  2. I've been a reader but not a contributor, so far. I've started to play well enough again so that equipment is once again become a focus. The golf ball conversation was enlightening as well as confusing as it appears the only way to decide is by trial and error. Hmmmm. That's a challenge without the correct place and ball access to do so. I've been told as my speed has declined that I needed a softer ball to launch it higher. The ball review implies the opposite. That's an eye opener. I just went through a Driver fitting and purchased a Titleist TSr2 with Project X Hzrdus 50g shaft. It's much easier to swing than my old TaylorMade R15 with stiff Bassura shaft. The result is better swings on all my clubs. In my bag now: Driver - Titleist TSr2 Fairway Metal - TaylorMade 16 degree HL 3 hybrid - Cleveland 20.5 Irons 4-P - Callaway Apex recoil ES 760 | F3 Wedges - recently added Harry Taylor 56/11 -52/9 - 48/8 Putter - PING Anser 4 (May 2022) replaced Scotty Cameron Studio As you can plainly see I have no brand loyalty. The only newer clubs are the wedges, Driver & Putter. Balls, I've tried them all. My go to was Titleist AVX and Pro V1. Also trying Sxiron brands currently testing Q-Star Tour. I'm just not willing to pay $60 / dozen. I can get Q-Star for $32 with Qi.Golf logo. My scoring is back to my historical range 75-85. I play in Tucson during winter and Bandon Dunes in summer (I forecaddy).
