I’m sure this is echoing a lot of what’s been said already - I see my driving iron as a “condition specific” club. I built a Srixon 2i with a 6.5 project x HZRDUS shaft so it’s a tee shot only club for me. Ball flight not great for going for a par 5. If I feel like I need a low, running ball to find a fairway or it’s super windy, I’ll throw it in and pull my 5w out. It’s a good club to have in your arsenal.

I heard a story about Tiger along these lines a few years ago. After he and Sean Foley parted ways, Tiger would call up different coaches and experts to have these little hour long chats. As the story goes, Tiger would “throw out” about 95% of what was said and keep maybe one or two different concepts from each guy to further his game.

I think the lesson there is that a lot of what we hear is “noise” and what we do hold on to is deeply personal, player to player. So find the 5% of advice that resonates well with you and take that to improve your game.

For me that’s picking a precise spot on the golf ball, on the front of the ball for wedges and irons, on the back of the ball for woods and my putter. Keep your eyes focused there until your swing naturally rotates your head towards the target.

    I hope the context helps!
