I recently experimented with the finger down the shaft with by 3wd and Driver. I have a slow swing speed, and my miss is a straight push about 15 yds. This seemed to straighten my ball out, and add a little baby draw. I think it might be doing two things, think, for I have not compared video against my regular swing yet. One is, I think it prevents my from over swinging, or over hinging at the top of my swing. The other is I thing the slight pressure a few more inches down the shaft is helping me turn the head over to more square at impact. Then again, this could all be a bunch of bull. But, I am going to try it out a few rounds and see what my fairway hit percentage does, and if the 3wd puts me in better position on my approach.
