  1. I drive a tiny hatchback because I have a long commute and two kids in car seats still. My cargo area isn't big enough to hold my normal bag ( Sunday bag fits, just no woods). I have taken to putting the bag upright behind the passenger seat and using a bungee cord to hold it by clipping it to my daughter's car seat. You could try just using a bungee to the headreast bars and car seat back teather point.
  2. So I have an update. I emailed their customer service. Not looking for special treatment but because I work for a large retailer ( not golf, industrial supplies) and I know we appreciate good feedback. The rep I have been talking to has been great and found the proper blue and white cover that goes with it. I'll have it Tuesday. He appreciated the direct communication and the ability to do some investigation rather than just leaving a one star review flaming them. That's not my style but a good customer service experience in the end I think is more satisfying than a smooth transaction from the start. Maybe I'm still just nuttier than squirrel poo. Thank you for everyone's input.
  3. Yea, no side eye or anything. They didnt explain why they would have to charge me for the other cover, just that it didn't go with it so they would have to. And yea, it's a pretty good price, looking it up it is the 2021 model. I spent too many years in retail to ever be a dick to any one in a retail setting. The whole exchange was amicable and civil. And that's why I'm asking here, I don't feel like they were trying to screw me over, just I have spent so much time in retail that if I am working with customer who is being decent but looking for what seems to me to be a small concession, you do it and send them on their way happy. But I have never been in Golf retail so I don't actually know if it is a small concession or not. And yea if I got the red I would have gotten the red cover. I just didn't like the feel off the face as much and wasn't as comfortable with the distance. And I may still go back and get it. Is it worth my remaining dignity and minor ego to sacrifice helping me make less 3 putts? Perhaps I'll see through a brick wall in time.
  4. I got a red glove from them this time last year. Ordered 8/30 delivered 9/2
  5. That's what I thought. The boys group chat is of the same mind too.
  6. OoooOOOoooOo. I didn't even think about looking there. Thank you!
  7. I have been looking for a new putter most of the summer. I know that I like the feel of a high MOI putter with my arcless stroke. I drove to a golf place here on the west side of Michigan about an hour away from my house because I know they have a massive selection and I can try out all the options. After testing a bunch of putters I come to clear winner for me, the Odyssey two ball ten tour lined. I love the feel, weight, balance and alignment aids. And the price is pretty good. Brand new. I go to buy it and ask for the head cover because they keep all the head covers in a storage room. They don't have one in blue to match the putter. They have plenty of red just not blue. Thats fine I don't mind a red cover for the blue. They then inform me if I want the red cover they have to charge me for it. The will give me a generic triple track head cover that doesn't quite fit. It's rounded and the two ball ten is squared. It buy it and as I'm walking to my car I realize I'm disappointed. I don't want this not matching head cover for my putter that I'm spending hundreds of dollars on. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars on something that is giving me a feeling of disappointment. The whole process was excitement. Going there. Excited. Trying out all the putters l. Excited. Finding the one. Excited. The price. Excited. Purchased it. Disappointed. Does it effect the putter. Can I buy the right cover. Probably. Will I buy a baller dumb third party head cover for it. Probably eventually. Anyway I went back in and tryed to get them to hook me up with the red one again. They wouldn't. I returned the putter then and there. I would rather be disappointed on not spending money than disappointed on spending it. Am I ridiculous? Is it unfair of me to have expected them to hook me up with the red head cover? What would have you done? I'll probably just stick to the proshops by my house or go to the east side to Carl's if I want to test from a huge selection. I just don't know if I'll shop somewhere again that let's me spend a couple c notes and walk away disappointed in my purchase. Which is a drag, they are very close to my inlaws and its a nice place to escape to on long visits. Sorry about the rambling post. This is going to bother me all weekend.
  8. I am in the market for a new bag. I am after something with full length dividers. If I am playing by myself, which is about half the time, I use my push cart (CaddyTek CaddyLite One V8 from Costco) and typically when I am playing with the boys we are in the course ride carts, which is about half of my rounds. I am currently using an old Goodwill special that has a 14 way divider but its not full length and I am tired of fighting getting clubs in, especially on the push cart and getting a tangled mess. I do like pockets, and good ones at that. I'm currently eye balling the Sun Mountain Sync but like the color options over at OGIO. I am quickly approaching analysis paralysis at this point.
  9. I've been in putter hell. My wife got me the Kirkland putter for Christmas. I couldn't drain.... something hard to drain, let alone a putt. Got the weights, things got worse. I rehomed it and it is living a happy life with someone who appreciates it. I went back to my old Nike Method and things went back to normal. Today I swung by the ole maple Hill golf pro shop and spent an hour or more ( it could have been a day I blacked out) just trying out high MOI putters. I knew going in I like the look and feel of the Odyssey two ball ten with the line. I tried out a bunch. I like the wingman from tour edge, and the Wilson's were really a surprisingly great feel. The TM22 was dope, and the Infinite L was awesome but I thought it looks dumb. I do want to try out one of the infinite Buckingham putters that MGS really liked. Then I went on to the Evnrolls and reallllllly liked the EV12. That's when I made the mistake. I had never even held one but now I get the Scotty Cameron hype. The Phantom 9.5 just feels so good. It's balanced so perfectly. It's like it knows the distance of the hole. Just lift and let flow. It's going to haunt my sleep. Needless to say I ran away with a new glove and went and bought cigars. And I will enjoy them.....and every putt missed I will be thinking about this afternoon. Until I breakdown and get it and realize that even the best putter can't read the damn green.
  10. A couple of years ago, I got sick of the battery life of my android watches and jealous of the battery life my wife got off her garmin tri specific watch, got myself the Garmin vivoactive 4. I have used it for tracking hikes, mountian biking, road biking and indoor bike trainer sessions and the watch does a great job. I wear it all day every day just as part of my every day for notifications from my phone and honestly haven't had a ringer on my phone in years. On the rare days I take it off and leave it at home, it feels like I have lost one of my senses. And it is a battle tank. I have hit it on many many door jams and lock plates and no worse for wear. It also has a golf function which I have come to love. For the last couple years I would use it while golfing to give me yardages to the front, middle, and back of green and didn't really explore any features really beyond that. This year I have explored more of these other functions and last week found a buried setting that changed everything. It does let you pick from various pin locations on the green but I am not good enough to be able to hit anywhere specific. I am always going for the safe shot, center green. I am a bad golfer. But it's a monkey on my back I can't shake. While I would love to spend money on a fancy golf specific watch, that money would be much better spend on a lesson or 12. But to have something I already own be this great? I'm here for it. Here are my thoughts on using the watch for golf. First things first. The watch does not come preloaded with courses. You need to open the Garmin connect app and download the course prior to your round. No big deal, it takes less than 30 seconds and you never need to download it again. Then you go to your watch, select the golf activity, wait for it to connect to gps, select your course (the closest ones will be at the top) and your tees and away you go. You also get a prompt that asks if you want to keep your score on your watch. I always do and you will get some extra information on your game if you do. And you want to talk about easy to see. Garmin uses some sunlight visible display that makes it even easier to see in direct sunlight. You will never have to worry about glare or sun or shade or whatever. It's great. It's like one of those e ink displays. Yardage readings are dead on accurate and fast. So much so that those I typically golf with no longer use their phone apps or range finders unless its a drastic up or down hill lie for slope. There can be a slight lag on the yardages updating if you roll up in a cart fast it takes a moment to update yardages on where you currently are but by time you hop out the cart and get to your bag it will be updated. I can't express how nice this is when you play with a group as slow as the one I typically play with is. Roll up. Look at your wrist. grab the right club. Pull it left of the green. Then off you go. It's great. When you are done with the hole it asks you what your score was, you adjust up or down from par (always up for me.) And move on to the next hole And for years this is all I have used it for and it has been flawless. Then I explored it a bit more and got lots more. By hitting the top button on the side of the watch, it opens up the golf menu. Here you can edit your scorecard, find yardages to and to clear hazards, get direction to pin, find last shot distance, get layup distances, and pull up current score. All super useful features, everything accurate to the yard as far as I can tell. All for the low low cost of something I already had. Then recently I found buried in a setting for the golf app in the phone settings (not the app settings) for tracking shots. I turned it on and it blew my mind. Now after every shot, the watch asks me what club I just hit. While a little fiddly, it is something I can select real quick less than a couple seconds, as I am putting my club in the bag. This unlocks a boat load of post round data on the garmin golf app on my phone as far as statistics. And this feature works.....pretty ok! It has some trouble picking up putts and some of those shorter chips and pitch shots around the green. I just don't think those are big enough swings to register them as shots. But whoo boy is there a lot of information in the phone app on how bad my game is. Opening up the phone app you can see lots of information. Its more than I know what to do with. All of it can be broken down to individual round information and overall lifetime information on your stats. So much information! Information on chipping and putting can be collected by adding the CT10 trackers and tying them in. You can buy the whole club set and not have to worry about selecting clubs on your watch. Or you can probably get away with the starter set on your putter and wedges and selecting your longer clubs on your watch. Battery life: When using the watch in everyday life, no gps just as my watch, it lasts for 5-7 days on a charge. Using it for golf, i have done 36 holes and still had 40% life. I think you can easily play 3 or 4 full rounds before needing to charge it up. And it charges fast. I typically go from 20% to full if I plug it in while getting ready in the morning. It is kind of a fiddly charger but I bought a fist full of usb-c to garmin charge adapters and keep them attached to my most used cables so I can always get a boost if needed. Cost: Full retail is $329 but it goes on sale for $250 or less. You can get a refurb for under $150 and like I said, this thing is a battle tank. Conclusion: I love this watch. I love these features. I don't know how much all the performance stats help me out but the yardages, hazard and layup info I use all the time. I do like the club tracking information, I look forward to using it more and more and collecting more information on my clubs. I know the yardages help. I will probably end up with at least a starter set of CT10 sensors on the wedges and putter. And from what I understand all this information is integrated with the R10, which I think, especially in Michigan where it snows half the year, being able to keep all your indoor, outdoor golf information together would be great. While you do get additional features like hole overviews and whatnot with more expensive or dedicated golf watches, I am very happy with this watch and the features it provides for golf. At least until I can cut my handicap in half.
  11. 1. How long have you been playing golf? I've been playing on and off for 30 years. Started in middle school and was really never great. Devoting more time to it over the last 5 or so years. 2. What’s your handicap or normal score? I am hovering just above 100. 102 -108 most rounds. A couple better chips and I'll break 100 3. What do you love about golf? I love that it is near impossible to think about anything else while you golf. I love the social aspect and that sweet sweet feeling of flushing an iron and draining a 30 foot putt. 4. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I like reading about golf. All aspects. Reviews, articles, forums. I really enjoyed Tom Coyne's books. 5. Where are you from? What is your home course? From Flint, MI, now in Kalamazoo. Don't have a home course just courses I frequent more than others. 6. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best - I pass 7 public courses between work and home every day. And we have some truely special courses near by for when we are willing to treat ourselves. Worst - Snow for what seems like 6 months of the year 7. What do you do for a living? Certified Safety Professional 8. How’d you pick your user name? Its as much an autobiography as a user name.
