  1. Howdy everyone my name's Bob, I'm a web developer and marketing guy from London, Ontario, Canada. Recently getting addicted to golf again, and as an avid forum user in my younger days was very excited to find that this forum exists when my buddy sent over a link for the Haywood irons that they are looking to test. Been doing a little bit of lurking ever since and excited to make an introduction! My playing/gear history Been playing golf since I was a young kid. I was super fortunate as a kid to have access to an amazing golf course with a great junior program that didn't break the bank so instead of paying for child care, as soon as I was old enough my parents would just drop me off at the course for the day and pick me up on the way home. Never played very competitively (a few small tournaments but never did well) but was always a big fan of working on my game and trying to hit the ball as far as I can with the driver and hitting as much spin as possible with the old trusty Wilson lob wedge! As soon as I hit college, the funds for golf dried up a bit so I didn't play as much until my mid-20's where I found a local course with a really good "student" rate for younger folks so I was able to get out that summer and started getting back into it. This was about the time I finally upgraded my woods and driver, went from an old Dunlop "The flame" driver and a Canadian Tire generic brand 5 wood to a Nike VR Pro 3 wood and a Callaway Diablo driver. Fast forward a few more years of playing 3-6 rounds per summer with the same gear and near the end of the season last summer I went out for a couple of rounds with a buddy and really started to get the itch again. At this point, I wasn't sure how serious I was going to be about getting back into golf, but I was really struggling hitting my irons, so I decided that it was time to upgrade my 20 year old irons to something that would hopefully be a bit easier to hit and ended up finding a really good deal on some used Cobra King SZ One Length irons. They didn't come in until the end of the season so I only managed to get one or two rounds in outside with them. On my last round outside, was a very cold day and I ended up snapping the head off of my old trusty Wilson Lob Wedge that was my "go to" club for my entire golf career. So in a panic I ordered some Cleveland RTX4 wedges and started gaming them as well. I also figured at this point that while I'm at it it might be time to upgrade the old Diablo, so my buddy sold me his Taylormade SIM when he upgraded to the Stealth 2. At this point, the itch was getting too hard to ignore so I joined a Winter League that was running at a local simulator and have been playing there and really working on my game. My scores at the sim have improved drastically since I started in the fall and am starting to get so itchy to get back out there this season. Shot even par for the first time at the sim last week, so hoping that will show on the course when I'm able to get out with some good weather this spring. The sim has been great for working on my woods/driver/wedge feels but have been struggling with my approach game. Currently on the fence about my decision to go with "game improvement" irons as they are very heavily lofted (to the point I treat them as 1 whole club up) and every once and awhile I'll catch one clean and it'll go 20 yards further than intended. The one lengths feel fine, but had I known how much more golf I would end up playing after buying the irons I probably would have went with something a little more traditional. Going to take a few months out on the course, but with the numbers I've been getting off of the simulator I am having a harder time trusting my distances, and the lack of feel is definitely something that has been creeping up more and more as I've been getting my golf game back to "normal". I haven't had a handicap in years but I normally shoot high 80's or low 90's depending on how hard the course is, my goal this summer is to break 85 at Tarandowah (my favourite local course). In The Bag Driver: Taylormade SIM (9 degrees, turned all the way down on the "LOWER" setting) Driver Shaft: Aldila Ascent 60 X Flex Woods: Nike VR Pro 3 wood / 5 wood Woods Shafts: Project X 6.0 3 Hybrid: Taylormade Rescue Mid (only in the bag if it's too windy or too thick of rough to have the 5 wood in the bag) Irons (5-GW): Cobra King Speedzone One Lengths (they're so strongly lofted I think of them as 1 full club up) Iron Shafts: UST Mamiya 460/480 ESX Graphite Iron Shafts Wedges: Cleveland RTX4 mid grind (52, 56, 60) Wedge Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Spinner 115 Putter: Odyssey White Hot OG 2-ball Bag: Sun Mountain Stand Bag w/ individual club slots (Black & White) Looking forward to getting to know everyone around the forums!! 30462052e9ef69cfe7606d8c49e990b8.mp4
