  1. Hey Jax Beach, Sounds like you guys are getting some good rounds in on the Stadium, and congrats on the 85 there with the birdie on 17. In keeping with tradition, I guess you lost $ that day with the low score. Weather here has been unseasonably warm, in mid to high 90's for a couple of weeks, but has cooled down to the 70's..perfect golf weather. I played a private Donald Ross course a couple of times over the past week, Lake Sunapee Country Club. It is one of the best courses I've played in NH and has bent grass greens and lush fairways, with the typical Ross features (back to front green slopes, forced carries, and greens with false fronts). We played the blues, which was about 6500 yards with a lot of very long (430-450 yard par fours). Consistent in scoring with two 80's which could have been better if the putter was working. Playing in a member guest this weekend, and doing some subbing in a couple of leagues. Give my best to the gang and hope you play well today. Best, Eagle.
  2. Hey Jax Beach Packer Fan, Sounds like some good scores by you and JC before you guys hit the wall. Weather up here has been wet but was able to get out and play yesterday with the NH group. After playing out of the Valley rough, playing the rough here is almost like hitting it from the short grass. Tell Bern that, in keeping with tradition, I shot 74 and lost $. Play well and regards to all.
  3. Played TPC Valley on Friday with regular group and shot an 83 with 35 putts. Hit 8 Fairways, 7 greens, and had 1 birdie. we got out early and played behind a slow group that picked up the pace at the turn and we finished in about 4 hours. Nothing special, but after pulling my tee shot in the water on the par 4 #13, I had about 200 to the green with a sidehill lie. Smashed a 3 hybrid on the green to about 20 feet. Missed the putt, but did get down in two. Have put my R9 in storage and still working thru getting used to RBZ driver. Until recently have carried both drivers but am hitting it consistently enough to leave it in the bag. During lunch after the round we settled our bets and I won a dollar, so the water is on me.
  4. Played home course yesterday (Valley at TPC) and had 39/42 with 32 putts. Have been keeping stats for a while on driving accuracy, # of putts, GIR, pars and birdies. The area where most improvement is needed for me is on the green. I had 32 putts with a few one putts outside 15 feet, a couple of 3 putts, and a couple of missed short ones. Other stats included 9/14 fairways(64%), 6 GIR's, 2 birdies, and 6 pars. I saw a chart somewhere that showed these average stats based on scoring over time based on score. Score 71 75 79 81 85 89 91 GIR 12 10 8 7 5 3 2 % Fairways 81 71 61 56 46 36 31 Putts 29 30.3 31.7 32.3 33.7 35 35.7 Birdies 3.2 2.4 1.8 1.5 .8 .1 0 Pars 11.8 10.3 8.8 8.1 6.6 5.1 4.3 I would be interested in how you might stack up with these stats based on your game.
  5. JaxBeach, Thx for update on score. Hope it didn't make a difference on the match. I'd rather pay you a couple of bucks than have to go thru the calculation again. Remember to tell me about the lessons you are taking. Also, you forgot to mention that you are nailing that RBZ, outdriving the rest of the group by 10-15 yds.
  6. Played 18 today at home course (TPC Sawgrass-Valley Course). Did not play that well really, but my decent score (80) was a result of 26 putts. I usually have 31 or more putts per round so this was highly unusual. Go figure, nothing special, just one of those days. I guess I should keep my eyes closed on the greens more often. Can't wait to go out on Friday to see what's working and what's not.
  7. Hi, I am retired and living the good life in FL for 6-7 months a year and the rest in NH. Have a great group of guys in both locations to play golf with once or twice a week. Looking forward to checking out this site for fun and any advice to help improve my game.
