  1. I shot 73 today, a personal best on my course, with a double on 17. I was playing really well. I started out strong, but then started to fall apart on 6, 7, and 8 because I went double, par bogey, but then I birdied nine and ten. pared 12-14, birdied 15, pared 16 and then came 17. It is a really hard par 3. If you are more than 2 feet short of the narrow but long green, you are in the water, and I hit it off of the stone wall 2 feet short of the green, and bounced in the water. It stunk, and then I pounded a drive 270 yards on 18, but then left a 10 footer for birdie just short. I had zero bogeys on the back, and only 2 on the front. Everything was really good. I had 28 puts. I was making everything including a clutch 20 footer on 15 to to one over, and then a downhill slider on 16 for par. It was a rough ending, but I played well.
  2. Shot one over 36 in a high school tri match. I had one birdie on 8, and I missed 3 footers for birdie on 5 and 7, it was so aggravating, but it was good because I finally played well in a match. These two lessons that I had last weekend were really helping because I only hit one bad drive, and I hit two 9 irons to 3 feet, and almost all of the rest of the irons shots to within 15 feet. I have another set of lessons saturday and sunday, and lets see if I can implement this newish swing.
  3. Shot 79 sunday morning, and I was trying to go through a swing change. I forced myself to no matter what, or how weird it felt, to do what he said, and I hit the ball pretty straight, but not that long. I had another lesson after that, and now I think I almost have it.
  4. I shot a 3 over 39 yesterday in a high school match, and then for next tuesday's match qualifier, I shot one under on a run down executive course that we practice at, so I will be playing number one for our next match of the season. I started off badly with a missed 4 footer for par on two, and then a 3 putt on three, but then I birdied the long par 3 6th, and then I burned the edge for a hole in one on a 285 yard par 4 on 8 (I ended up birdieing because it rolled to the back fringe), and then I birdied nine after crushing a drive 290 with a 5 yard fade to play the dogleg perfectly. It was fun. I have found my driver again!
  5. I did not play very well this weekend. I shot 78 the first day of a tournament with a nine and a 7 that were both on par 5s which is unacceptable, but I did have 4 birdies which were on 6, 10, 16, and 17, and then I three putted 1 and 18 for bogey. The next day was a disaster. I started out really strong, and then just lost my concentration on a 4 iron that went into the water that is barely in play. I drained a bunch of putts over ten feet, but I missed a bunch of short putts. I feel like I am so close. It is always just one or two big misses that derail my whole round. I finished 7 out of 16 because it was a fairly hard course.
  6. I shot 78, but I finished very badly. I finished bogey bogey par double bogey. I hit the ball alright, but I did not score very well in the end.
  7. I shot 82. I placed 8th. I played well except for 3 holes in a row which I played 3 over.
  8. Shot 74 in a tournament. I played pretty well, but I had some missed opportunities. I missed a 3 footer strait uphill on fifteen for birdie, and I snap hooked my drive on 18 way left into a hazard that was not even supposed to be in play, and I made bogey. I am in third, and I will see how it goes today.
  9. I shot 77. I tripled the first hole after some big time bunker trouble, but then I bounced back with a birdie on the 211 yard second hole. I had three birdies on the front, a triple, and two bogeys. I was all over the place. I think I hit the cart path 7 times, had to hit it through power lines, hit a couple trees, was on the wrong hole, and I even lost a ball in a tree after going for it in two. My short game was incredible, I had a bunch of tap ins. I had a bunch of birdies, but I was all over the place. I hit two fairways, but 10 greens. It was a crazy round.
  10. I birdied 1 and 9, but I played horribly in between.
  11. I shot 79 at montgomery village, and I finished double double. The course was pretty tricky, and there were some hard holes. I shot 41 on the front, pretty bad, then I was playing the back pretty well, two birdies, and one bogey through 16, and then I lost my drive on 17 and 18 and finished double double. I tied for the best score of my high school team, and if I keep playing decently, I could be the top seed for the matches.
  12. I think it may be a pace of play issue. I heard some matches last year took 3 hours for nine holes, because some kids got the limit of double par every hole.
  13. Thanks, I don't think DC even allows caddies.
  14. First day of high school preseason for me as I am a freshman. We played a run down par three course, and it seemed that unless you came in really low, the balls would just bounce over the green, which is weird because the greens are really slow and soft. It was the same thing with greenside chipping, the ball would not ever check up. I did not play so well. I shot 2 over, and I got the second best score. My high school time is not that good, but this year will be our best in a long time, because my freshman class has 4 people who shoot in the mid 80s or below. It should be fun. As for the Arizona conversation, I have played the boulders and Troon North. Troon North was amazing, especially the monument course, and the boulders were okay. The south course on the boulders was the best. I am not a big fan of desert golf because if you miss the fairway, you lose your ball.
  15. I played Aldarra golf club with my dad and a family friend and his dad. The course was amazing, but very tough. It is in Washington, 30 minutes away from Seattle. I was 3 over through 4, but I battled back to one under through fourteen, and then I messed up the tough finishing holes and shot 74. I still have not broken par. I have come so close so many times. I hit the ball great, and I had 12 putts on the back nine. The course was breathtaking, and it was in perfect shape.
  16. Lost to my dad in our match. I give him one stroke a hole and he beat me 3 and 1. We played river ridge golf club today. We played the lakes course and it was very fun. I did not play so well, but It was fun to hit the ball around with my dad. I did not make any birdies. I stuck 2 wedges to within a foot, but that was after I either put it in the water on the drive, or going for it in 2, so they were for par.
  17. Riviera was awesome. There are some tricky holes there. I shot 78. I just could not get the speed right on the greens. I hit the ball pretty well, but the wind made it tough. The one kind of annoying thing is that some of the par fours play longer than some of the par fives. One is a par five, and it plays with the wind, and I had a hybrid in. I hit it in the bunker, then took two to get out, then missed the 7 foot par putt. Then on hole two which is a par four, I had a 3 wood in because it is shorter, but into the wind. It is funny because I ended up with a birdie on two, which would have been an eagle on any of the par fives. The course was in great shape, and it was a lot of fun.
  18. I have been in california for a while with my family for a vacation to see other family. I played sandpiper golf club yesterday with my dad and it was awesome. The course is in Santa Barbara CA, and half of the holes run across the water on a cliff. There are some great views there. I hit the ball very well, but I shot a 6 over 78 because I made a couple of stupid doubles because of the wind, and some very bad putting. About the wind, it is impossible. Back in DC, we have a lot of wind, but it only seems to affect the distance, and it never really affects you side to side because of the trees. Here, I hit some great great shots only to find them go 40 yards left of where I intended them to. I had a 70 yard pitch shot that started left of the flag, and almost missed the green right. All of the holes running south were impossible for my natural draw on the approach shots. I have been trying to hit more fades lately (I was inspired by Tiger's amazing iron performance on thursday at the Bridgestone to hit these hold off fades) and even when I did that, the ball still ended up 30 feet left of the flag. It was a lot of fun with some great views, and anyone in that area should go check out this course. My grandpa has a friend who is a member at Riviera, and I am off to play there tomorrow, it should be fun.
  19. Shot 77 with three doubles, an eagle on 5, and two birdies. If my short game was halfway decent on 4 holes today, I would have shot a 73, but I am happy with the way I was hitting the ball. I eagled 5 with a 3 wood and then a smooth 52 into the wind that took one bounce and dropped in the hole. It was sweet!
  20. Played late afternoon yesterday and I shot a 36, plus one. I realized something funny when I was reviewing my round. I hit 0 fairways. I guess my misses have been tighter, and I did not have any 50 yard snap hooks. My best drive was actually in the water. I have been working on working the ball to the right, and I was able to hit a 20 yard cut around the tree with my driver on hole 7 which is a dogleg right. I need to stop playing golf for 10 days because my handicap is about to drop 2 points this summer from I 5.7 to a 3.6. I guess playing every day really helps you.
  21. Well I lost this morning in the quaterfinals 4 and 3. I was really tired and I only hit 3 fairways through 15 holes. My opponent drained a 30 footer to win for birdie.
  22. In a tournament with a us am format, except the match play qualifier is 18 holes, I shot 84 over two days. We played through crazy rain where you could not see anything but rain. I had a nine and a seven on the two par fives on the front nine (my second nine) at woodmont cc. I somehow made the cut as an 8 seed (16 people made the cut in my age group) because everyone blew up during the rain. I had to show up at 6:30 am to finish my round from yesterday. It was ridiculous. Later today, I beat the nine seed two up on 18. They put our age group at 6800 yards. In match play, everyone was shooting around par because there were better conditions. I almost choked though, I was 3 up through 14, but then he won 15 and 16, but I haved 17 and won 18 with a birdie to close it out. It sure helps when you hit the ball 50 yards past your playing partner in match play Tomorrow, I will have to play the 16 seed who killed the one seed, and then hopefully play another match in the afternoon.
  23. Saturday, I shot 74 with a double on 18. I felt like I hit the ball really well, and I felt like I putted really well, but I hit 6 fairways, 10 greens, and 33 putts. I guess I felt that way because I had no misses more than 10 yards off of the fairway except for 18. Today was a different story. Somehow I got to play with 2 plus handicaps, and a scratch. We played ALL THE WAY BACK where they never bother to put markers on. the front is a 3700 yard par 35, and the back is a 3446 yard par 35. It was tough. I hit the ball long for my age group, around 265-270 yards, but It was nothing compared to the 2 plus handicaps. One guy carried it 340 over water (with the wind). After snap hooking my drives because I was trying to kill it on the first 4 holes, I just played my game and me and one of the plus handicaps won the match in a playoff which was an alternate shot chip off. It was awesome, but it was impossible.
  24. Shot one over for nine holes in my 9 hole interclub match. I birdied 14 (we started on the back nine) when I drove it with a 3 wood. I closed out my match in 5 holes. Then I doubled 16 because I was not really focused at that point.
