  1. yes it does have an aluminum ping to it but it is a good indication of where the strike came out of…i have noticed that the more off center the strike the more audible the ping…if struck dead center the sound is a nice little thwack so it is actually nice for feedback (have putted with proV1 left dash and prov1)
  2. GOBBLIN …(kind of wish i had a green one now instead of black )
  3. also stated in the video that if someone was on the fence between spending that $$ on a driver or the DF3 putter the logical choice would be the putter as they would be more likely to shoot lower scores with this putter than the new driver (statistically speaking)…after the ball the putter is the most used piece of equipment
  4. i had the same reaction as your dad when i switched from pure to star grips last year…the one and only thing i did not like about pure was the exaggerated taper (easy enough to build up bottom hand to alleviate issue) so when i learned star had a reduced taper grip i the tour star+ i was sold 100% and they have been on the clubs since and still feel fantastic (like new if i give them a wipe with wet towel)…i even use a tour satr+ jumbo on my putter (just luv the feel)…cheers
  5. i believe putting also has a symbiotic relationship with GIR stats (frequency and proximity of one’s approach shots)…i absolutely loathe three putting but if i am 30+ feet from hole i usually assign at least some of the blame to my approach game…looking forward to seeing if your data will show any improvement with DF3 tho
  6. i had the same dilemma...luv my 2.1 but as a self diagnosed certifiable club ho i couldn't resist and now have the DF3 too...it is every bit as good as the 2.1 (imo) but the DF3 does win on looks (again imo) and the the EE alignment option is working just as i hoped which is point and shoot (i am a find the straight putt putter tho)...just food for thought
  7. i was the same with so many options but settled on the EE option (basically an arrow)...it took awhile to decide as i thought it may be to busy on top and could not find any reviewers that had it...received putter 2 days ago and it looks amazing...this putter is point and shoot so the arrow fits perfectly as it makes it super easy to aim (especially if you use a line on the ball...i do not) ... have not had it on an actual green yet (looks like christmas outside today ) but so far it putts the lights out on carpet ...just my $.02.cheers and happy testing to all
  8. also...would like to give a shout out to stargrip's customer service...i just recently broke the little nozzle tip that goes in the end of grip so i emailed the company and i had a replacement new nozzle delivered in 2 days (impressive considering i live in canada) no questions asked...on another occasion they sent 15 of the wrong grips to me so they sent the correct ones overnight shipping and said just keep the others! ...the guy is just super easy to deal with...cheers
  9. i have been a long time user of the air install grips (pure 1st; now star) and they can be installed and uninstalled as many times as you need without any deterioration in performance...also i have tried air installation for other grips (oNe, iomic, tour velvet, etc.) and there was slippage with all other types/brands...cheers
  10. i was about to mention that very important point…even within Star grip line up (tour star+) the weight is different for each colour (54g, 58g, 59g, & 63g…blk, blu, red, & wht)…so going from blk to wht will drop swing weight approx. 2 swing weight points…just something to be aware of as it can affect swing mechanics and feel
  11. i have the tour star+ jumbo on my putter and in my opinion they are quite a bit larger than midsize...i would recommend trying the midsize sidewinder and build up bottom with tape to match the mcc4+ ... cheers
  12. for what its worth...no vice needed really ...i do not use a vice when doing installation...just get grip started about an inch (this is big improvement over pure grips as the rubber is more robust on Star grip) then butt club head up against foot and with short bursts of air guide grip on with free hand...done ...been doing them this way for 6 years now (i do not use the installation gun either [did not have one for pure grips] as it is just as easy to poke nozzle into grip hole and slide them on...also, the tape is a preference thing (not required) if you require a built up grip then have it otherwise just easier to do without...cheers
  13. been using air installed grips for years now (Pure first and now Star as of last year) and have never had an issue with slippage or twisting (i have actually blown a grip off and back on right before teeing off to show someone at my course how easy it is and no issues with slipping)…IMO Star grips are better in terms of durability, feel, ease of installing, & customer service is fantastic…cheers
  14. the tour star+ barely feels like a wrap (just a tiny indentation…more for appearance) in comparison to the classic wrap
  15. the only thing i can say negatively (my opinion) about STAR grips is the taper which is a little to much (sidewinder)…but the tour star+ addresses this issue having a built up bottom hand (akin to the GP MCC plus)…would be nice if sidewinder had same option…cheers
