This is purely anecdotal but it seems like there are people who play tour yellow balls for no reason other than how few other people do, and how much harder it would be to pretend you thought someone else's was yours. Nothing wrong with that but hard not to laugh to myself imagining the look on their faces when all the white Q-stars and Chromesofts and AVX's have been gobbled up and they find the treeline between fairways littered with yellow ones.

Ha, not so much "on," but "around" the golf course, whether we're playing at a country club with amenities that include a pool, or on an overnight trip where it doesn't occur to me that our AirBnB might have a hot tub, or even if we're playing one of the few local courses around here that are near a waterpark. Pittsburgh weather can be all over the place, but a round of golf and a jump in water that feels like the "opposite" of the conditions you just played in is about as good a pairing as any steak-and-Cabernet or soft-pretzel-and-beer.

Been using a Callaway Hyperlite series bag for a while, hadn't bought a bag in about a decade before that and never gave that one much thought. Became curious when I noticed the exterior of the ball pocket had a velcro strip at the bottom, and apparently, it's so it can be removed and customized by one's home club? My questions are, does one's club just provide a replacement "cover," that gets zipped/velcroed into the bag in place of the original, or is it common for clubs to embroider their logos on to things like this, or do they stitch or iron on an existing transfer? And, if I have a custom logo (I don't belong to a country club but the group of guys I play with have an unofficial logo), is there someone people who know about such things have used in the past who either creates ball pocket exteriors, or embroiders things on them, or creates transfers that can be applied in some way to mine? cheers

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was curious whether people in or around (or from) Ohio could give me some advice. I have two group trips to Ohio this year, one around Youngstown and one around Akron. Each of them involves playing three courses, two of which have been picked out, Yankee Run and Pine Lakes for the first one, and Boulder Creek and Ellsworth Meadows for the second one. I'm not the one organizing, but I've been asked to weigh in, does anyone with local knowledge have any suggestions for a third course in either area? First trip is a group of maybe 20, second one may be closer to 50, in case anyone has already played outings at any of the courses in question, or just thinks a particular course would stand out for its fitness for such things. Not sure if I'm doing this right, but here I am. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Got my first set of clubs and played my first round in 2002, didn't really start playing with any frequency until around 2010. I was in the 11's the last couple years, a bit lower now but still double digits. What do you love about golf? Being outside, having something vaguely athletic I can beat people younger, bigger, and stronger than me at, and having a way to get groups of friends large and small to actually make plans to hang out or take trips together which they'll actually follow through on. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Whenever I looked for reviews worth reading of equipment, I would always find my way here. To the best of my knowledge I don't know any other Spies, but hey, maybe some of my friends or golf acquaintances "do it but never talk about it." Where are you from? What is your home course? Pittsburgh, born and raised. Not a club member, don't play in a league, and actually try to play a variety of places, but my favorite course we get to play around here is Shepherd's Rock at Nemacolin Woodlands; the one I get on the most is probably Birdsfoot in Freeport. Never played Oakmont, feel free to razz me about it. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Every golfer I know who visits or has moved here from another major city is blown away by the quantity and quality of affordable, accessible courses. When Pittsburgh weather is nice it's *really* nice, but we do get a lot of rainy days, plenty of thunderstorms, and winter weather has been known to show up early or stay late.
