John Hoie's Achievements

  1. Three entries: 1. Mizuno MP33 irons. I still kick myself for selling them instead of just reshafting. 2. A set of 1957 Spalding Top-Flite persimmon woods. Modern woods are clearly better, but can’t reproduce the feel. My brother still has those in his basement. 3. A 1953 MacGregor Tommy Armour Iron Master putter. It belonged to my dad, so I’ll never part with it. Designed for an era when greens were shaggier, it has 11 degrees of loft.
  2. Selling my MP33s when I bought a new set of cavity backs that a pro told me would be easier to hit. They weren’t, and I lost the feel of blades
  3. Worst golfing mistake I ever made was getting rid of my MP-33s for “easier to hit” irons. They are wonderful.
