  1. So to generalize, the Prov1 is low spin low flight and the prov1x is high spin high flight. I would say the TP5x I've tested is right there with Prov1 and prov1x as far as performance. It has some of the good qualities of both, but mixed in a different way. High launch like the Prov1x but driver spin is low and comparable to the Prov1(possibly lower spinning), which is nice. Greenside spin is comparable to the V. Feel is between as well. Softer than the prov1x but not as soft as the V. I've decided it doesn't suit my game, but depending on the things you are looking for from a ball it could outperform the Titliest balls. The closest comp that comes to mind is a softer feeling left dash. My full review will be out later so keep an eye out for that!
  2. I have a few new TP5 I'm gonna try out and see. I'd imagine not though considering it's the same cover. If anything I'd think that the TP5 would be worse since it's the softer, spinnier ball. Like I said though, I'm not sure most golfers will have this issue. I'm putting 10000 rpm backspin on these shots with the lower spin TP5x. Really using the club face. Unless you are spinning them backwards from 50 yards it probably won't be too much of an issue.
  3. Could just be a difference of preference, because those are similar to the scuff I've been getting and I would prefer not to play them once I get a couple of those. Lots of studies now showing it affects flight, aerodynamics and particularly rolls on putts way more than you'd think.
  4. Good morning spies! In case you've missed my previous posts, I'm still trying to break par from the tips. I've done it from fronts to whites. My Putting has really held me back as I usually hit between 60%-70% FIR and GIR, usually with great proximity. I'll have 3-4 three putts a round and countless missed 4-10 footers. My issues is usually speed control on longer putts and pulling shorter putts left. Almost to the point of yips. I know I'm actually pretty good at reading the greens, I just rarely hit my line with proper speed. I decided before investing in an arm lock or another route, that'd I'd just try some weight adjustments with lead tape. So I got a roll and put a lot on the toe to help with the pulls, and more on the lower shaft and base just to add weight so I feel better with distance control. First round today and it was a world of difference. I usually have between 33-38 putts and only had 27 today. Lots of 5 footers for scrambling pars and 3 10-20 footers for birdie which I almost never make. I felt like I was hitting my line almost every stroke. I didn't strike the ball well by my standards at all and got around at +1. I'm hoping this will continue and not be a quick boost as putting changes can be, and finally get me over the hump of breaking par. I'm now a lead tape stand lol. Anyone else have experience with this magic voodoo?
  5. I've decided this ball definitely has some durability issues with the wedges. I've mixed it up the last few rounds because I've been playing so poorly, I wanted to confirm it was my game and not the ball. As suspected, it was my game lol. However, I was going through notably fewer balls while using ProV1 and Chrome Tours. Chrome Tours in particular seemed to hold up well to my wedges. Went back to the TP5xs last round and immediately scuffed one to hell on my first good wedge shot. From only 30 yards as well. To be honest, I haven't been disappointed with anything about the TP5xs besides the durability. I'm also guessing someone who doesn't apply a lot of spin around the greens and compress wedges hard wouldn't have this issue.
  6. Good morning! Got out this morning for 18 holes and honestly felt like Augusta conditions! 40+ mph gusts. Definitely the windiest conditions I've played in! I usually love windy conditions(10-20mph) and play well but this was definitely to thr extreme. Coupled with the 3 inches of rain we had the last 2 days, making it very soggy. It was a rough day where I shot 82. Crazy how you can feel like you've hit a good shot and end up 20 yards long or short depending on if it gusted or not. It was certainly an experience lol.
  7. A few videos of a chipping test I did. They responded very well around the greens. The conditions were damp and I was still able to limit the run out on a short-sided chip that is landing on a downslope. Pardon the camera work as my 12 year old son was doing the filming. 20240401_110327_1_3.mp4 20240401_110327_1_4.mp4 20240401_110327_1_2_2.mp4 20240401_110327_1_2_1.mp4
  8. Good morning all! I didnt get a chance to type up my adventures from yesterday so here it is. I decided to brave the elements and go play a quick 9 holes in the rain. It was a roller coaster of a round and I played pretty well. I almost dunked a HIO on hole 8, literally pitched 2 inches left of the hole but spun back about 8 ft. Then, as I was walking off the green I slid in some mud! I didn't fall but my left leg kinda went under me and tweaked my knee and ankle. I decided to play out 9 and almost dunked again from 120 out for eagle. Made the birdie on both to finish with a 35 but my knee and ankle are really sore today though lol.
  9. I agree about the new Pix. It's much better than previous designs
  10. I've now played several rounds in varying conditions with the TP5xs and my although my game has been up and down, the balls have performed well. They have a really nice, high launch with lower spin. Especially with driver. When I connect with driver its a moonshot but still getting some roll. I was worried about the short game spin considering these are "low spin" balls but they bite when you make them. It's not excessive, but if you know how to generate spin on a 20 yard pitch then these will react how you expect. That aspect of TaylorMade's new cover has impressed me. My number one concern at the moment is durability. I'm getting significant scuffs on just about every well struck wedge shot.
  11. Yeah that's what I like about the TP5. Great short game spin and feel. If they can keep that and cut back on the driver spin then it'll be a great ball for a lot of different players. The 5x is definitely the lower spinning ball overall. I'm just hoping the tp5 can have a good balance
  12. I am lucky to be a tester and I have the same issue. I have always played Prov1 to help knock down my spin and launch. I do miss some greenside spin however. I have been playing a box of chrome tours and like them a lot. They are the closest direct comp I've found to the Prov1 ever. I'm very excited to get my TP5s and see how they slot in! I haven't disliked previous iterations of the tp5 and they were probably my 2nd choice to Prov1s in the past. So if they've made improvements this could be the year they overtake them for my game. Hopefully my findings in this test will help inform your decisions!
  13. Moral of the story: always get loft/lie checks on new clubs. Mine was likely a shipping issue, but there are plenty of stories of clubs coming straight from the store shelf or OEM with incorrect specs. You can also effect loft/lie slowly over time just through normal play or frequent travel. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
  14. I got some new irons in recently. When I received the package, it was busted open with the heads sticking out. I'm lucky that there wasn't any cosmetic damage. However, as I'm hitting them, I notice it doesn't sit right on the ground to my eye. I'm also hitting a lot of pull shots. I take them to my local club guy tonight to have lofts and lies checked and my suspicions were confirmed. The whole set was anywhere from 1° to 3 ° upright from standard and a couple of the lofts were off. I got them bent back tonight just in time for my first scramble of the year tomorrow so no adjustment period lol. Hopefully I can figure it out on the range beforehand. I had issues with FedEx for the entire duration of this shipment. Also arrived 3 days late(2 day express shipping) and delivered to the wrong location. First time I've ever had a club shipping experience nearly that bad. The new clubs feel great though. Mizuno 223s. I can't wait to get my first round in with them at the correct specs!
