  1. Came across the PGM ball on Temu/Amazon. Per content on Amazon the ball meets USGA guidelines for size, weight and symmetry but never specifically said “conforms” to USGA nor does it say “non conforming” like some balls. Did a quick search of USGA database and that thing is just awful for finding a ball. It is not just a picture of a ball. Sent an email to USGA asking if the ball conforms. It doesn’t because it hasn’t been through their lab. HOWEVER that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be used in competition. See below: “A ball not on the list cannot be played when MLR G-3 is in effect. However, if this Model Local Rule is not in place, then the assumption is that a ball used by a player conforms unless there is strong evidence to the contrary.” Played in plenty of tournaments but never knew about this one. Learned something new today so I figured I’d share. Play well all!!
  2. Sent an email to USGA to see if ball was in conforming list…it is not BUT it could be used in competition. Per USGA a ball NOT on the list CAN be played unless MLR G-3 is in effect. If that local rules is NOT in place the assumption is the ball being played does conform unless proven otherwise. Per PGM listing on Amazon the ball is built to USGA specs for size, weight and symmetry.
  3. PGM’s 2 and 3 piece balls pop up on TEMU and Amazon. 1. Anyone know if they are USGA approved?(looking up on USGA site requires Ph D in computer science) 2. Balls legit or Putt Putt quality?
  4. Solid info..appreciate it. Been interesting trying to increase ball speed by exercising and swing without feeling like I am swinging out of my shoes.

  7. Don’t own a portable launch monitor but do have access to one at range. Wondering what ball speed would be with a “pro style” ball?
  8. While testing the latest and greatest from big name companies would be awesome that’s not what I want to test. I want to test the lesser known brands offering high quality equipment everyone can afford. Golf is too expensive across the board. Testing those companies gives players options to grow their own game with equipment on par with major brands while saving a few bucks. We all see the brands across media platforms offering great deals. I’d want to test those to help the player saving a few bucks know they are spending their money wisely. I have ditched Taylormade/Titleist wedges for Costco seeing an increase in performance since switching. Being a 2 handicap I am now looking to update my irons but don’t want to pay $1k..just doesn’t make sense. Forums like this can help me, and others, find the equipment that meets our expectations on the course and financially.
