What is the most under appreciated brand in golf?
mizunofitter replied to GolfSpy_APH's topic in General Equipment Talk
Being a club fitter I have to agree with the comments about Tour Edge and Wilson. That being said, I think that the one truly overlooked brand as a whole is Cobra. It’s easy when fitting someone to introduce them to Tour Edge and Wilson as an alternative, especially when cost is a factor. Cobra makes great products, their drivers have been excellent for several iterations now. But, I find that the only people that want Cobra are looking for their more nuanced lineups like one length irons, or the AeroJet series for short hitters that need that explosiveness. Golfers just don’t come into the shop asking to hit the new Cobra product. It’s almost always an afterthought. -
My name is Bill, I’m a club fitting specialist with Mizuno Golf USA in the New England/Met Section. I’ve been with Mizuno for 5 years now and prior to that I was a tech representative with PING. I also perform a fitting services on a fill in basis with Chris Cotes Golf Shop in Portland CT. I rarely get to play unless I’m traveling. I’ll play 8-12 rounds of golf a year and hardly get to practice. I still maintain a 8 handicap, but at my lowest, when I played a ton I was a 3. My favorite courses played are Winged Foot, Friars Head, Newport CC, and East Lake GC.
