  1. Any thoughts on what time of day I (a beginner) should play? I've been at this for about 2 years now with a ton of range time and only about 7/8 full rounds under my belt (working on breaking 100). I've had great experiences so far with the first tee time of the day, but would it benefit me to play twilight? I always keep pace, understand etiquette and I've been lucky to play with understanding golfers thus far.
  2. Thanks for the input! I try my best to do everything right when I'm out there, including repairing divots/ball marks and not wasting time searching for a lost ball. Being on the course is just an awesome experience, but i'm well aware my game needs more improvement before I can hold my own out there. I've been working hard and seeing results, but the range hardly satisfies the itch to play..
  3. Sorry to bring this topic back to back to life after a few weeks, but I figured it was better than creating an entirely new post.. I'm a beginner at golf for sure. I've always been interested in the game, but decided to take it seriously and invest in an entry level set for lessons/range/practice. I've taken a good number of private lessons to understand the basics and have spent a ridiculous amount of time at the range practicing. My issue is that I have very few friends who play and dont have much time to get rounds in. I'm itching to play 18, but I'm worried about not being very good and getting thrown into a group of impatient pros. I've read up on course etiquette and have played enough rounds to know how to carry myself. I'm all about keeping pace, playing quickly, being ready to hit, and I have no problem picking my ball up and moving ahead if necessary. I guess what I'm asking is how comfortable or uncomfortable would some of the better players here feel if they were placed in a tee time with a beginner like me? I really want to play, but I usually end up at the range out of fear of ruining someone's round. I think I could shoot in the low 100s if I took my time, but my main concern is getting a chance to play 18. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Sterling Farms is a beautiful course in Stamford and I've played Tashua Knolls in Trumbull. The staff and grounds at both are fantastic.
  5. Thanks!! I've been spending most of my day on here seeing what I could find.... They closed down CT last week just when I was about to have some free time. Hopefully this is over with sooner than later.
  6. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Played for the first time in my life about 8 years ago at an annual company golf outing. Only played once a year using rental clubs up until last year when I decided to take it seriously. I love the game so decided to invest in a budget (Callaway Edge) set of clubs and take lessons at the local course (Sterling Farms - Stamford, CT). Now I'm really hooked and want to improve my game. I haven't played enough to get an official handicap, but I'm still pretty bad so that can wait. 2. What do you love about golf? It's a challenge... It takes a lot of time, practice, effort just take get a handle on the basic fundamentals, but it's always a great time. My issue is that none of my close friends play (and if they do, they're not serious about it). 3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I was shopping around for a golf ball which fit my needs and came across the 2019 Golf Ball Buyer's Guide. I've been a daily visitor to the site ever since. 4. Where are you from? What is your home course? Originally from NY but recently moved to Stamford, CT. My home course (and where I take lessons) is Sterling Farms in Stamford. 5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best - Moderate climate (I hate when the temps get above 85). Worst - Winter seasons can be extremely brutal. 6. What do you do for a living? Accounting (Zzzz)... but working in a corporate environment is what brought golf into my life so I'll take it. Thanks to everyone running the site/forums. I really do enjoy all of the quality content and unbiased reviews. There's nothing like it anywhere.
