    Hey guys!
My name is Alisa and I’m from Austin Texas!

    1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?
I “played” golf here in there through my childhood. My dad and uncle would take me to the range from time to time  I didn’t get seriously into golf until my freshman year of high school and I haven’t been able to put the clubs down since! I’m currently a scratch golfer trying to make it on the LPGA!

    2. What do you love about golf?
I love everything about the game! The challenge of every shot. You don’t always have the same shot each time. It’s always different, always a surprise. The ability to be able to test my game each time I go out is so much fun.

    3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?
I have heard about it through friends who play and told me to follow on Instagram. Since then I love reading up on the posts and getting other Spies input on things.

    4. Where are you from? What is your home course?
Born and raised in Austin Texas! My home course is Balcones Country Club where I teach as well.

    5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?
I love all the different courses in my region. Each course you play is different and allows you to work on different parts of your game. I just wish it didn’t get so hot in the summer!

    6. What do you do for a living?
I’m lucky enough to be around golf 24/7. I teach and play for a living!

    7. How’d you pick your user name?
I chose something super generic. I went with my first and last name with my favorite number 15! I grew up playing softball and it was my first love. I picked the number when I was 5 and wore it all the way though high school!

Our daughter lives in Austin, Tx. I will come check out Balcones CC on our next trip.

  2. I am new to this forum, but have been reading MyGolfSpy articles for a while now.  With the COVID-19 lock-down I thought I would jump into the forum.

    • I first started the game at age 5.  My dad brought me a long to the course to "caddy" for him.  I got my first club and played with him the next weekend and was hooked.

    • I played competitively through my youth with enough success to earn a scholarship at the University of Arkansas (hence my username).  After graduating, I started working at IBM, got married and started a family.  With little time to practice, my game deteriorated and I got frustrated in my play.  The clubs went into the attic (I still have them). Fast forward 30 years and I am falling in love with the game again (the smell of fresh cut grass, playing with friends and family, chasing the sunset to squeeze nine more holes in, practicing with purpose and seeing the results).

    • After retiring from IBM, I started my own consulting firm allowing me to stay relevant, help others, and to have the flexibility to travel and chase my passions (competitive golf again).

    • New equipment was needed and I found MyGolfSpy's unbiased, data-driven reviews very valuable in sorting through the marketing claims to find my new set.

    • We have settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma and play at Oaks Country Club, a beautiful, but diabolical A.W. Tillinghast course that is the longest "short" course I have ever played.

    • Oklahoma is a golf crazed state with a surprising number of quality courses from many of the greatest architects: Tillinghast (Oaks CC, Tulsa CC), Maxwell (Southern Hills CC, Dornick Hills CC), Dye(Oak Tree) and Fazio (Golf Club of Oklahoma).  Oklahoma State and Oklahoma produce PGA Tour players in a constant flow. Oklahoma is also centrally located, making travel to play the Top 100 Golf Courses in the US (12 so far) feasible.
