  1. Played a 9ner tonight. Sun goes down earlier now so no way to do an 18 before. Shot my lowest 9 hole score of even par 36. Bogey on 1 and 9 and birdies on 3 and 5. 4 of 7 fairways and 7 greens. The i20's with the s300 shafts are really helping my iron game. Even thinking about keeping the wedges that came with the set.
  2. I'd rather walk and more so for health reasons but nobody I play with walks so unless I go myself than I ride. Yes I could walk anyways but I generally just play with my bro and he doesn't have a push cart like me so I get in with him.
  3. My I20's came with a I20 gap (50 degree) a sand (54 with kbs shaft) and a 60 (I tour) wedge. I gave them a run yesterday and thought they were pretty good. I'm going to get the groove sharpener anyway and take my chances. I'll get one that says it makes them legal just to be safe and add some piece of mind.
  4. 36 holes today on foot. Really wanted to give the new Ping irons a whirl. Round 1 was a 77 with 7 gir and 9 fairways and round 2 was an 81 with 7 gir and 5 fairways. The I20's are really awesome. Pretty much what I was looking for. The S300 shafts are excellent and I get a nice high shot with a nice little draw. I need to work on alignment in order to hit more greens but other than that pretty solid. I played the first round with my Scor wedges and Snell ball and round 2 played with I20 gap and sand wedge and 60 Ping tour wedge. Really enjoyed the ping wedges.
  5. I really liked the rtx 2.0 when I tried them at the demo day. I bought the Scor's after everyone here has raved so much about them. They are the best I've hit out of bunker without exception. I'm surprisingly tired of switching out clubs all the time too but I certainly do not want to make the grooves illegal. I understand the rule for us amateurs and stuff but for me it's principle. I'm not sure if I will sell the Scor's, or get the sharpener and take my chances.
  6. Just regular shots they don't spin. If I compare them with the mack daddy 2's I had there is no spin at all. Ball lands and rolls across the green.
  7. My 59 degree Scor wedge does not spin the ball - at all. It's not a technique issue as my Mack Daddy's did. I've been looking around the net and have seen groove sharpeners. My questions are: Do they work? What do you recommend? I really need the ball to sit like it used to. Cost me some strokes yesterday.
  8. 79 tonight. Airaided greens and played the last 2 holes in darkness plus went straight to the course with my i20 irons that I just got lol. 10 girs and 9 fairways
  9. Played in a 3 person scramble with my 2 Bros. I sucked. Both my Bros were pretty good. Happy to be changing my irons as it was the worst part of my game
  10. I feel the same way when I'm playing bad too. I wasn't playing my best yesterday and basically told my brother that I quit and I hate golf. Guess where I was today? 79 today with 9 gir and 6 fairways. Played back 9 first and went 42 but shot 37 on the front. No birdies all pars and 1 bogey on the front and a triple on 13. It happens. Keep plugging along..... I still feel my irons are closing on impact (and not by me). I hit more than a few shots today where I was aiming right of target and the ball too off straight left. If I line my iron head to where I want to start, take a practice swing and put the the head behind the ball it is closed. No idea why. My grips loose? Shaft loose? Technique? I have no clue but it seems to be getting worse.
  11. 80. 6 greens 5 fairways and 1 birdie. Played like poop. Something weird I noticed though. I usually play a nice draw with my irons but my pw has almost always done a hook draw. Now my short irons were doing the same. So for me to line up to my target, I point the face where I want the ball to start and than swing into position with the face still pointing where I want to start the ball. The problem is that I take a practice swing and the club face has closed on me. It's like the club is turning in my hands but I do not feel the turn. Anyways, it has cost me quite a few strokes today
  12. 78 tonight with an eagle and no birdies and 2 lost balls lol! Crazy game. 8/14 fairways and 12/18 greens.
  13. 77 today. Brought the handicap bac down to 6.9. Bought an Odyssey Metal X #6 and it really and I mean REALLY helped me out big time today. Brought my putts down from 32 to 27 today with an Eagle on the par 5 510 yard #10. Was putting for eagle on par 5 #7 but just missed for a tap in birdie. Had 1 eagle and 3 birds with 2 doubles. Was shooting for 74 and I doubled 18 and bogeyed 17. Was just impressed with my putting today FINALLY.
  14. 77 today. was going for 75 and doubled the 18. It started to rain around the 12th hole. Putting was about 50-60% better than it has been. Made 4 birdies including 1 chip in birdie on 5. 37 on the front and 40 on the back. 9 greens hit and 8 fairways hit. Official Handicap now 6.7 and last 4 rounds in the 70's (76,78,79,77) Getting hot hopefully train keeps rolling to the club championship at the end of August
  15. 79 yesterday. I still cannot believe how many putts I've missed for birdies. I hit 10 greens and each time I was anywhere between 5-20 feet and could not make a single one. I even got a double on 6 and on the par 5 7th, I skulled a hybrid into the gully about 50-60 yards from the pin. I got there and it had splashed out of the water and was lying just on the side sitting on thick cut grass that had water underneath it. I spread my legs out to each side of the gully and hit a perfect half 60 degree onto the green. The green's elevated so I couldn't see where it went and my brother standing a little higher yells out "it's in It's in!" I dropped it for eagle lol. My mental part of my putter is killing me though. I will line up the putt and pull or push it. Pick up the ball, drop it anywhere on the green, not do anything like line up the ball or even think for that matter and almost nail every second putt lol The joys of golf
  16. 78 today. Although that would be fine for me, I'm actually disappointed. I had 10 ft putts, 15 ft putts, even 5 ft putts and could not bury 1 birdie. 13 pars, 4 bogs and 1 double. I hit 10 greens and 11/14 fairways. Had I made half of my putts on the greens I hit..... (also used a Srixon Z Star XV as I want to save my Snells for the Club Champiosnhip!)
  17. finally broke 80 this year. Struggled for a bit but shot a 76 with 1 birdie lol. hit 13 greens including the last 7 in a row. readjusting my distances is helping. Since moving over to the Snell My Tour Ball, I have to use 3 wood on 4 for the par 4's just so that I don't reach hazards or overshoot a dog legged hole.
  18. Well I'm thinking really hard about the Scors. Are men's league starts tonight so it should be interesting to say the least lol
  19. Bummed. 85 yesterday. I'm not getting results even though I'm striking the ball very well. I only hit 4 fairways but mainly because there are a lot of dog legs on my home course and where I used to hit driver I almost have to hit 3 wood because the ball goes further and rolls off the fairway to the first cut of rough. It's the 3 putts on poor greens. I've gone from a 7.1 handicap to a 7.5 and haven't broken 80 yet this year in 6 rounds. Even if I'm 3-6 ft away from the pin, the ball bounces off line to the left or right. The greens have sand and were aerified and have holes and sand all over them. Practically impossible. And the thing is: I like my clubs. I've never hit my driver, 3 wood or hybrid as far as I do now. My irons feel incredible and I'm almost to a point where I've got them under control. I can even shot shape with my driver where I've never been able to before. My wedges aren't bad but I am debating jumping the gun and buying some used Scors or Scratch wedges. My putter feels fine. Thinking maybe I shouldn't put my scores in until the greens are better? Don't know. Just getting really frustrated
  20. 82 (again) on the weekend. My local courses' greens are pathetic this year. The season started late so they fell behind. Very difficult to putt on greens that have been aerified 3 times since the season started. Holes and sand everywhere. If you don't stick your shot within a couple of feet don't bother putting at all. 40 for a front 9 yesterday. hit 6/7 fairways (2 holes were par 3's) and hit 6/9 greens. Again, no chance to putt with greens as they are.
  21. Well 82 yesterday. Was happy to be striking the ball better with the irons and a little better with the driver but here are greens are not very nice for this time of year. Lots of 2-3 putts. The ball bounces to the hole and loses it's line. Sucks big time but I was just happy to be striking pretty good. Supposed to rain here all week so will have to wait 'til Friday to go play
  22. I have fun when I'm playing well. To see all the hard work I put into myself go down the drain is seriously disappointing and is no fun at all. I don't expect to hit everything well or make every putt, but I sure as hell don't intend to shoot 90's and quadruple bogeys the rest of the summer. I played all frickin' winter thinking my swing will be in shape when I got to the real course and it's worse. Just about to head out to the range again to try to fix these problems a.s.a.p.
  23. Tiger shot 85 - I shot 91 Went to the range and had figured out a few things. I realized my hands were behind the ball instead of in front. I also realized I was outof tempo with my driver. So once I got that fixed, I crossed over to the 10th hole on the course, no one was there, and decided to try out my swing. It is a par 5 510 yards dog leg left and than right. Hit a perfect drive with a slight fade to about 215-220 yards, pulled out the hybrid and hit a perfect high baby draw going straight at the flag. Walked over the bunker hill (green is blind and can't see it, only top of flag) and was on the green in 2 with about a 15 foot putt for eagle. Just missed the putt and birdied the hole. Called my brother and told him it was back, my swing was back. Went to go play a 9 with my son yesterday. Hole 1, the toughest hole on the course 393 yard par 4. Hit a low hook into the bunker. Hit a nice chip out to about 100 yards ( no way to go for the green in 2) and proceeded to chunk my ball into the pond. Finished with an 8. Here we go again! Go to number 2 par 3 about 145 yards but front pin location made it about 135. Hit the pin and birdied the 2nd. Yes so I thought. Proceeded to bring my mistakes with me the rest of the game. Very discouraged to say the least. Going to play a full round today with my brother and my 2 remaining uncles (who are 80 and 74 and can still hit a ball like you wouldn't believe). Hopefully they might have some advice. Can't go on like this.....
