Tropicalgolfer's Achievements

  1. No pictures but recently finished building about 150 various golf clubs (iron sets, wedges, individual irons, drivers, etc.) to give to the club drive for the First Tee that my home course sponsors. I ran across a fire sale of used and unused club heads, shafts, etc., at an estate auction and just couldn't pass it up. Apparently the deceased fellow was a bit of a club builder himself, but the widow had no use for his materials and just wanted to get rid of them. Sold everything as a "lot"! Beyond the modest cost of the lot, all I had to provide was epoxy, ferrels, some grips, and I must admit, quite a few hours of my time. It was a hoot rolling up to the donation site with the back of my SUV loaded to the gills with the clubs!!!
  2. I use them religiously. Catch a lot of grief for it, from just about everybody I play with/against, but don't care. Hate the clatter sound and am just not going to have a $1,200 purchase beat all to hell while traveling hole to hole. Like others have mentioned, if you sell your old clubs, they bring much better prices if not beat up from bag chatter.
  3. Playing buddy gave me a Maxfli tour ball to try out. Played it till #18 (Par 5) when I pulled my second shot a bit and dunked it in the pond. From this single round using the ball I must say I found it to be a good ball. It traveled just as far (maybe a couple yards more than my regular ball (ProV1) off the tee and handled just as well (as the ProV1) around the green. Lob shots and short irons into the green were one-hop and stop. Plan to try this ball out some more. Maybe I'll get picked to be a MyGolfSpy product tester!!!!!
  4. I can only speak for me, but YES the big OEM's have lost their minds with regard to pricing. I'm out.
  5. Four brands in my bag. Taylormade driver (custom shaft), Adams three wood, Taylormade irons, Cleveland wedges, Odyssey putter. Occasionally switch out longer irons for M4 Taylormade hybrids. A true "hacker" but love to play nonetheless. Oops, slight typo in my previous post (I hate autocorrect).

  7. Does anyone know if the Odyssey Stroke Lab putter weights will work in an Odyssey O-works putter? I desperately need to add a little weight to my O-works. Thanks.
